Nuvi 260W Boot Warning Screen Question

Hi,

I was wondering can the Boot Screen that shows warning message with agree button at bottom be Disabled. If you do nothing the screen goes away on its own so I dont understand the reasoning for it at all. I would like to remove it so that it isnt annoying me during startup extending my wait time. If anyone can help it would be Greatly Appreciated.

Thanks,

Nope. You can't get rid of it. (Lawyers)

Here's what I advise to people.

-----------------------------------------
Here's how get it to stop bothering you.

As the unit is booting up as soon as the warning screen comes up, close your eyes and count to 15.

Then open your eyes. As if by magic, the screen will have gone away. wink

Now, take a deep breath. smile

Probably wouldn't be a faster

startup if you could eliminate the warning screen. In lots of electronic gadgets, the initiation process is going on in the background while such introductory messages are displayed. At least, I think so... neutral

Yes, it's acquiring Sats

You're right - it is continuing to acquire the sats and doing other stuff. If I click it off right away, I have to wait a few more seconds for satellite acquisition, anyway. If I just let it time out on it's own, I have satellites and it's ready to go.

Almost liek Microsoft Windows

Microsoft Windows has the splash screen with little colorful bars running back and forth. You can't get rid either. Just have to wait

Do NOT follow these steps while you are driving or operating heavy machinery.

And it is especially risky if you only have 2 wheels on the ground!

Bad advice

I followed your advice on the way to work this morning. Turned the GPS on while I was driving, closed my eyees when I saw the screen, as instructed. When I opened them 15 seconds later I found out I have plowed through a whole bunch of children, and some of their parents who were waiting for a school buss, then continued down a hill and into a pond. I was 15 feet under water when I finally opened my eyes.

MM was right - you didn't follow instructions. She plainly state you should not try this while driving or operating heavy machinery.

If you are going to try this again tomorrow, do it while on your kick scooter.

not while your driving :)

"As the unit is booting up as soon as the warning screen comes up, close your eyes and count to 15.

Then open your eyes. As if by magic, the screen will have gone away. :)"

Just not while your driving down the road. (you know someone will do it. hahaha)
