So basically the truth is out....

So basically the truth is out that red light cameras are for revenue and not for safety. But we've known it all along....
all for $$
It seems that a great number of traffic laws are for revenue only and have nothing to do with safety. In addition to a myriad of parking regulations, we have the traffic courts loaded with criminals lined up to pay hefty fines for such violations as a rolling stops at 2mph (half of walking speed) at half deserted intersections. I don't think safety is the driving force here.
No. It's profit not revenue.

Dear Freddie,
No. The article is candid about the profit motive for Redflex, the company that installs the cameras. It is akin to what Halliburton represents on the federal level, except that they have moved their headquarters to Dubai so that Chaney can move there next year and not be extradited back to the United States.

Dave, Here in Arizona is proof. Gov Napolitano is enforceing the cameras soon to be put on our State highways. You can speed all you want, pay the fine and no points are alloted. Its ALL about the money.

In my opinion ..
Although slim, there is a chance that the original intent of the Red Light Camera and Speed Vans was for safety reasons. But then 'Greed' took over and they realized how much $$$ could be made off of this, readjusted their budget accordingly, and now can't do without them.

Yup... it's all about the dough
"Basically, the state has taken the position that we do not believe in the red-light-running cameras and do not support them," said Brian Bosch of ODOT.
In other words, there'$ nothing in it for u$, the $tate of Ohio. If somebody finds a way to cut them in, my guess is that the ODOT will rethink its position.
You're quite right.

Dear Grizz,
I was slightly non-plussed by your subject line. We are in complete agreement. It's all about the money.
