What is MAX CAPACITY MADE for micro SDHC cards?

This topic could be under any of the discussions, but you guys are more familiar to me.

So.....I've looked and looked but do not find the humongous sizes for the MICRO SDHC cards. Everyone speaks of buying only regular SDHC cards for other Nuvis with 16g or more capacity. Cannot locate any
micro SDHC cards with that capacity range.

My Nuvi 880 uses a micro. You other 8xx owners out there. Have you found anything really big?

Just curious.

Same here, what would you use all that space for? I use it to keep my POIs with me at all times and a few pics and songs. However, my coworker (who also has a 350) says that he perfer the ipod (better sound and organization) to his nuvi.

So I am not sure what else you could use it for, can't watch movies on it.

If you really don't need so many gb . . .

Since I see others commenting that you might not really need so much memory, check out Micro Center Online at

http://www.microcenter.com/

I see they have a 4gb Micro SDHC for only $14.99. It's not brand name but I've bought from them before (have two new ones working fine so far). If you want brand name they have Sandisk at 2gb for only $15.99.

remember the accompanying infrastructure...

To make effective use of large cards such as these, be sure you have the supporting USB2 infrastructure -- usb2 ports, usb2 hubs, and usb2 card readers/writers. If you don't, it's going to take a LONG time to fill your new card!

As an example, there are a couple of USB2 hubs on the market with built-in support for SD cards, CF, the usual stuff -- except that the card reader/writer part of the package is USB 1.1! It will work, but it's best used for small files.

Can you say "Amazon.com"???

Mostly books, MM

Mama, it is mostly for the Audible.com books that I am interested. And, the reason for that is to convince my hubby-the-reader that he will be entertained for the 20+ hour drives we make going back and forth between Mass. and Mobile, a distance around 1450 miles. His taste in music runs to classical, mine to jazz of all sorts, so we can both listen to the book reader without teeth getting on edge.

And I like a lot of space also for photos or even making the index cards which I just read about. But the most likely use will be for the books.

Currently I am listening to the author read ANGELA'S ASHES, and it is very very moving. This I am doing inside, in the house. The 880 is sucked up to the window by my desk, and I do not have to keep a copy on my laptop. Or, I can listen to it while I am painting the house--inside, of course. I love multi-tasking. smile

When do you have enough gadgets?

Sigh.....I know what you mean. And I suppose I was trying to avoid getting another "gadget." My husband, who is really the tech trained engineer/scientist (but retired) teases me all the time about my love for new technology--and I end up being the one to set up everything, even the HDTV. I guess I could buy an IPOD, and get some ear phones for him (lost his hearing around GE generators) so he can listen to his music while he reads, or while he is in the workshop, but I hesitate to bring another piece of technology into the house for a while.

I only have one GPS, two digital cameras, a digital camcorder, 2 laptops (one I bought for him), 1 desktop, 2 DVD recorders and 2 LCD HDTVs. Then we have the cordless phones both north and south, and the wireless HP all-in-one and the wireless routers, and my beloved Blackberry Curve, with the BlueTooth earpiece. AND, the digital picture frames, bought several to give as presents, don'tchaknow.

So....do you think I should get an IPOD now or wait to get it as a Christmas present? Am I an addict? grin

You Might Be Addicted To Gadgets If .....

If you use a CAD package to design your son's Pine Wood Derby car

If you have used coat hangers and duct tape for something other than hanging coats and taping ducts

If, at Christmas, it goes without saying that you will be the one to find the burnt-out bulb in the string

If you window shop at Radio Shack

If your ideal evening consists of fast-forwarding through the latest sci-fi movie looking for technical inaccuracies

If you introduce your wife as "mylady@home.wife"

If your spouse sends you an e-mail instead of calling you to dinner

If you look forward to Christmas only to put together the kids' toys

If you can quote scenes from any Monty Python movie

If you want an 8X CD-ROM for Christmas

If Dilbert is your hero

If you stare at an orange juice container because it says CONCENTRATE

If you can name 6 Star Trek episodes

If the only jokes you receive are through e-mail

If your wrist watch has more computing power than a 486DX-50

If your idea of good interpersonal communication means getting the decimal point in the right place

If you have "Dilbert" comics displayed anywhere in your work area

If you carry on a one-hour debate over the expected results of a test that actually takes five minutes to run

If you are convinced you can build a phazer out of your garage door opener and your camera's flash attachment

If you don't even know where the cover to your personal computer is

If you have modified your can-opener to be microprocessor driven

If you know the direction the water swirls when you flush

If you own "Official Star Trek" anything

If you have ever taken the back off your TV just to see what's inside

If a team of you and your co-workers have set out to modify the antenna on the radio in your work area for better reception

If you ever burned down the gymnasium with your Science Fair project

If you are currently gathering the components to build your own nuclear reactor

If you own one or more white short-sleeve dress shirts

If you have never backed-up your hard drive

If you are aware that computers are actually only good for playing games, but are afraid to say it out loud

If you truly believe aliens are living among us

If you have ever saved the power cord from a broken appliance

If you have ever purchased an electronic appliance "as-is"

If you see a good design and still have to change it

If the salespeople at Circuit City can't answer any of your questions

If you still own a slide rule and you know how to work it

If the thought that a CD could refer to finance or music never enters your mind

If you own a set of itty-bitty screw drivers, but you don't remember where they are

If you rotate your screen savers more frequently than your automobile tires

If you have a functioning home copier machine, but every toaster you own turns bread into charcoal

If you have more toys than your kids

If you need a checklist to turn on the TV

If you have introduced your kids by the wrong name

If you have a habit of destroying things in order to see how they work

If your I.Q. number is bigger than your weight

If the microphone or visual aids at a meeting don't work and you rush up to the front to fix it

If you can remember 7 computer passwords but not your anniversary

If you have memorized the program schedule for the Discovery channel and have seen most of the shows already

If you have ever owned a calculator with no equal key and know what RPN stands for

If your father sat 2 inches in front of your family's first color TV with a magnifying lens to see how they made the colors, and you grew up thinking that was normal

If you know how to take the cover off of your computer, and what size screw driver to use

If you can type 70 words a minute but can't read your own handwriting

If people groan at the party when you pick out the music

If you can't remember where you parked your car for the 3rd time this week

If you did the sound system for your senior prom

If your checkbook always balances

If your wristwatch has more buttons than a telephone

If you have more friends on the Internet than in real life

If you thought the real heroes of "Apollo 13" were the mission controllers

If you think that when people around you yawn, it's because they didn't get enough sleep

If you spend more on your home computer than your car

If you know what http:// stands for

If you've ever tried to repair a $5.00 radio

If you have a neatly sorted collection of old bolts and nuts in your garage

If your three year old son asks why the sky is blue and you try to explain atmospheric absorption theory

If your lap-top computer costs more than your car

NOPE you should be Okay, Get him the IPOD now!

Love the check list, BobDee. A few of the things really hit home--if not for me personally, then for the dear hubby.

And kch/Keith, as the voice of experience, who also owns a Blackberry Curve like myself, I am on my way to check out the Touch. Hope I can understand half of what it can do for me......

Ok. Makes sense for that reason.

Have you come across any sort of limit for the Audio Books like there is for MP3s?

Oh, and I'm all for gadgets and multi-tasking. smile

But with some of the current limits especially with MP3s (1000 songs) and map file sizes (4 GB), I often wonder when people talk about getting 16 GB card.

Mid 1990's List Endures

Brought a great smile to me after a very glum day at work. Thanks!!!

Hmm...
Plextor offered the 1st 8X CDROM drive in 1996

The Intel 486DX, 50 MHz speed grade was introduced summer 1991, but the 486 series spanned the first half of the 1990's.

Apollo 13 the movie premiered in 1995.

So, the list was probably compiled in 1995 or soon thereafter. Otherwise, it's amazing the list is still very fresh after more than 13 years! Has it been that long?

(Okay I must confess I had to do a little Googling to get the dates above)

- Fellow Gadget Addict
(Writing this while sitting amidst a nest of cables, Ethernet switches, bare disk drives, and PCs in the basement)

So far no AudioBook limit

So far, I've not found a limit. But then I only have 8 books on the micro card. Our trip south is coming up in mid-November though, and I'll put about 4 more on there. It was not long ago that I got my first micro card, only a 4g 6 speed. Having looked online diligently, I could not find any that fast at a greater capacity.
Well, now I know where to look--and for WHAT.

Audio Books - MP3 - Free Downloads

Not sure if many are aware of this but there is a site where free audio book, MP3, AVI and many other downloads are available.

A site that I like to use is www.mininova.org/ Enter your search and download. The more seeds the faster you'll get the file(s) you want.

You’ll need to download uTorrent to manage the downloads and this is available through a link on the www.mininova.org/ site. ISOHUNT is another search/download site you can use to find audio books or MP3's for your GPS.

Just be aware that most of the files are copyrighted and being illegally shared. Mininova and other bit torrent sites that can be used to find them don't store the actual files. They reside on other people's machines and as you're downloading, other people will be downloading from you.

Lots of people do it but that doesn't make it legal or safe.
