I'm new to this - but I did read te FAQs ... where is the "standard" POI file on a Magellan 4250. I was looking for a .mgln file but found none ... what folder is it in?

But MY question is: Why do you ask? That file is in a proprietary format and you can't change it yourself. If you try and fail, your unit may stop working. It has NOTHING to do with User created POI files.
It IS a good idea to copy everything over to your host computer for backup purposes; something may get deleted or corrupted by accident.
