Avoiding Traffic

I don't have a traffic subscription option but when I get stuck in traffic I want to 'find a way round'. Is 'Detour' the right way or is there a way to get into the traffic avoidance menus that the manual describes without having a traffic subscription.

Does anyone have any tips on traffic avoidance?

I'm using a Nuvi 760.

Not without a Subscription

I also have the 760. If you are within the first three months of having the 760 your 760 will receive the traffic data. In the settings tick off the traffic avoidance and your 760 will attempt to take you around the traffic automatically, if it will save you time.

If you are not receiving the traffic data your Nuvi won't "see" traffic were it exists and will not alter your route due to any traffic that does exist.

Someone who has used the detour function without traffic data will probably chime in here and tell you all about it. If not, I will try it and post here what I've found out.

Detour takes you off your current road

Detour basically does a "recalculate to my destination but do NOT use the road I am currently on". Think of it as setting an avoidance to your corrent road.
