New Garmin 765T

Has anyone read any reviews of the new Garmin 765T yet?

Looks good to me.....

I haven't read reviews but the unit looks good to me. I wish I could simply upgrade the current 760 I own to get the new features but Garmin seems to love putting out a zillion different models. I like the features in the 765T a lot but can't see spending the money to get a new unit.

I do not think that anyone has had a shipping version of the 765 yet to actually do a review. The closest thing I have seen was here:

there are downsides

From my perspective, the one new feature on these newer units that would be very useful is Lane Assist. Beyond that, these units are a serious downgrade from the nuvi 850 that I'm using now.

For example, the new units lack remote control voice recognition (which works VERY well on the 800 series) & the batteries aren't user replaceable (as they are the 800 series).

As far as the lifetime Free Traffic, the reason why they are offering Free Traffic on these new units is that it is "AD SUPPORTED".

A Garmin Tech Rep stated that "you will receive bearly noticeable Pop up Ads". Wonderful....not!

I looked at the ad on Garmin's page. The lane assist feature would be an asset for me as a professional driver. Some cities have left exits it'll just help by being in the right lane.

I hear it will be available sometime in October.
There are two product lines.
The 2x5T and the 7x5T. Both have lane assist features. The 7x5t has digital elevation maps and 3D building view.
Also the 765T has stereo bluetooth capabilties so you can listen to MP3's with bluetooth headphones. Supposed to have ultra fast map redraw too.
They look like cool units. 'bout time Garmin came up with some of the features the competition has.

I'm pretty excited about the

I'm pretty excited about the T models. I cant wait to take one for a spin.

Looks like the 765T is My next GPS

I would prefer the 785T, but the 3 month subscription is the clincher for me.

I would spend the money for the 800 series, but there are too many missing features. Thigs like the turn arrow, lane position, and I suspect the faster processor. The press release at Garmin sums it up:

The nüvi 755T, 765T and 775T will come standard with a traffic receiver that provides lifetime traffic alerts in coverage areas from NAVTEQ Traffic. The cost of the traffic receiver is included with the purchase of these devices – no subscription fee is required. The nüvi 765T adds Bluetooth® wireless technology for hands-free calling and supports a powerful advanced audio amplifier for a stereo Bluetooth connection.

As soon as it is reviewed for surprises, I plan to buy. Good job Garmin.

What is NAVTEQ traffic? Like the 760?

According to the Garmin site, the 2x5T units do "not" have lane assist, not even the wide 265WT.
It also shows that the 2x5T series have bluetooth, although it doesn't mention if they are stereo or not. Even the 765T,775T and the 785T don't list them as being stereo, but they might be. The lane assist missing on the smaller units would make me lean toward the 7x5T series for that very reason.

Garmin 880 or the new 700t line?

Hi,

Just wanted to know your opinion on what GPS to buy, the 880 sounds great but the new 700 t line looks cool too. Just wanted to hear which system would you buy.....if the 700t line is you choice then why? You think is the same if I buy the 765t and then buy the MSN adapter? does it have the ability to connect through your FM frequency to hear direction through your speakers? Thanks for all your comments.

755t

i just got the 755t. its got a fast refresh rate but thats about it. anybody wanna buy a 850?

.

I tried the 255W and I really liked the turn arrow rather than the text in the lower right. I could just glance and see the next turn direction. It's one thing the TT have that I wanted to see on Garmins. I did like the speed increase of the 255. Not a lot but enough to notice.

I'll have to see about the lane assist. We drove from Southern CA to Northern CA and the lane assist only came on 3 times with the TomTom 730 we used.
