Custom POI alerts Stopped working NUVI 350

Hi all, I'm new here, great site.

My new Garmin 350 was working and playing alert tones and custom MP3s when in the proximity of a custom POI and it just stopped working. I've tried re-loading the POIs, I've re-verified that the alerts are turned on.

I called Garmin and they said that there was a bug with the latest software 5.60/3.00 on my unit. the weird thing is they were working. Is anyone else having this issue?

Also, when working properly should the POI proximity alerts play in simulation mode?

Thanks

?

Don't know what to tell you as to why they stopped, but yes, they should work in simulation mode when working properly.

Also, have you tried going back to the previous firmware version to see if this alleviates the problem?

Are Alerts still turned on?

Have you checked your setup settings to be sure that Alerts are still turned on?

Yes

Checked and double checked, toggled them off then back on, reset to default, reset unit to clear user data and then re-enabled them

My alerts work for the redlight cameras, and speed cameras, but have never worked for my cutom POI's.

The big difference between your redlight and speed camera files is that their names cause the alerts to trigger without actually having to "set" an alert. The other proximity alerts require that you run POI Loader in manual mode and set the alerts. Did you do that?

I just found the "manual mode" for POI Loader. My nuvi 350 also will not simulate the routes any more. Any ideas for that?

Have tried a hard reset on the unit?

Does "I just found the 'manual mode' for POI Loader" mean the same as, "I didn't know I had to set an alert, and that was the problem."

My 660 has a setting under wrench/system/simulator to turn the feature on or off. Does the 350 have the same?

I would say a big "yes" on the setting of the alert. When I read through all the related past threads I must have missed the manual mode part. Now that that has been corrected, the alerts may work as intended. No the 350 doesn't have simulator under settings. I will do more digging. BTW Thanks

Just keep the antenna flipped down on the 350 and you will have the simulation mode.

WOW

A follow up to this issue

On a whim I tried loading some POIs with a PC using POI loader and setting proximity alerts in manual mode, now they work. Interestingly the first time I loaded POIs with a Mac they worked also, it was only later Mac uploads that didn't.

I hope this helps someone at some point.

350 Simulate? Close the antenna

Closing the antenna turns off the GPS receiver and it will prompt you to simulate a route if you press Go while the antenna is closed.
