Welcome to the site. Check out the Getting Started and FAQ links at the top of the page.

Welcome to the site.

Please read through the 'getting started' and 'faqs' sections linked at the top of each page. Those sections will provide you with TONS of information.

In the faqs, you will learn that the c3xx series units have a limited amount of space on the unit for Custom POIs. You have about 2MB of space which will give you space for approximately 18,000 - 20,000 Custom POI locations.

You will also learn that the 2610 does not support Custom POIs.

Here's the basic procedure to load Custom POIs.

Download and install Garmin's POI Loader onto your computer in order to LOAD Custom POI files onto your GPS unit.

http://www8.garmin.com/products/poiloader/

Then create a folder on your computer for your Custom POI files.

Download and/or create whatever Custom POI files you want to load onto your GPS unit and place ALL of them in that folder and keep them there.

Attach your GPS unit to your computer with a USB cable.

Run the POI Loader program that you installed to your computer and follow the prompts.

Select your GPS unit as the destination for the Custom POIs in the POI Loader screen. Use the drop down arrow if necessary.

When it asks for the location of the data, Select 'Browse ...' and navigate to the appropriate folder.

Select Manual or Express Mode using the drop down list. (Express Mode will set alerts based upon the data in the files. Manual Mode will allow you to set the alert information manually, if desired.)

If you select Manual instead of Express, you can set Proximity and Speed alerts for your POIs.

Follow the prompts.

Express Mode will load you files and present you with a Finish screen indicating how many POIs were loaded.

Manual Mode will present you with each POI file you have in your folder giving you the opportunity to skip loading that file, and to set or change the speed or proximity alert information. At the end Manual Mode will also present you with a Finish screen indicating how many POIs were loaded.

POI Loader will create a file in the destination you chose named POI.GPI with all your Custom POIs.

SECU ATM's

North Carolina State Employees Credit Union (SECU) provides NO fee ATMs for memebers and non-members. Is thers a POI specifically for the SECU?

Check the list of ATM POIs

You can find four pages of ATM POIs on this site at:
http://www.poi-factory.com/taxonomy/term/31

If you don't find your preferred bank there you may want to consider making one yourself and contributing it to the "Factory".

poi

ok thanks.when i run the poi loader it shows it is running but when it is finished it disappears no prompts no nothing just the icon to click to run.i have uninstalled and reinstalled.what am i doing wrong?thanks

.

Did you INSTALL POI Loader to your computer?

Are you running the INSTALLED program?

Are you getting the POI Loader screens giving you the options for installing the Custom POIs to your GPS unit?

Are you selecting your GPS unit as the destination for the Custom POIs?

installed poi loader.ran poi

installed poi loader.ran poi loader and no options come up.it shows that it is running and then disappears back to the icon that you click to run.

It may be already runing

I have had a problem with some programs when you click on the icon to start it shows starting and then disappears.

I have found that there is already an instance of the program running. You can look at the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt_Del) and look at the processes running. There you might find the program already running.

The best way to solve this problem is to power down the computer and then restart it. Then try opening the program PoiLOader again.

This may help.

Or you can simply stop the process running in the Windows Task Manager. Just be careful if you go this route.

Transferring Favorites?

Hi!

I've got a Nuvi 360. I keep my poi's on an SD card but my Favorites, Garmin stores in it's memory.

Once the prices settle, I'm looking at upgrading to an 880. The POI's are no problem as I can just move the SD card over (if the files are compatible) or worse case, down-load them again.

My favorites is different. Many of them I manually set the location (touching the car icon at the location) and even the ones by address; I have a lot of them.

Is there a way to upload them or transfer the Favorites out of the 360 or do I have to manually enter them; either into the 880 or onto a .csv and download them onto the SD card?

Thanks in advance,

Larry

I don't know where I'm going or remember where I've been...without Garmin.

mapsource

you can use Mapsource to extract your favorites from the one unit and transfer to another, I'm pretty sure . . .

I'm just learning myself, so hope this helps

Get GeePeeEx Editor. It will allow you to export your favorites from the GPS into it and you can save them as a .gpx file which keeps the phone numbers and such intact (assuming you have phone numbers entered for your favorites). You can then use the same program to send the favorites to your new unit.
