Apparently, Dallas is not getting the desired results from their intense 62 camera installation - and NO the results are NOT safety! Results are measure in - tata - MONEY! Apparently many "underperforming" camera are turned off
Not sure about the posting rules on this forum but I'll put this up until the moderator decides to leave it or not.

Apparently it costs a lot
Apparently it costs a lot more to maintain some of the cameras than the cities can make off of them. While safety is a concern, cost (or roi really) is always the most important factor to cities struggling with strict budgets. If the intersection does not produce enough income to warrant the cameras' maintainance costs, then they shut them down.

Dallas cameras
Probably because of POI Factory- Everyone has a GPS and joined POI Factory.

Interesting
Very intersting.
I would think that this situation would happen with many or most camera locations after a few months or a few very short years.
Between GPS alerts, word of mouth, media attention, and often very obvious signage.....the general public will be more cautious and aware.
This (to me) is kind of like having a speed trap in the same place for months/years that is being manned by a police person in a very obvious/open area. As time goes on, the revenue will shrink quickly.
