The event is great but I would like to see TV coverage of other athletes and not just USA and China, its a global event. On a side note has anyone found a nice web link to see what's on and what station as flipping from channel to channel drives me crazy and killing my dvr.

the USA wants to see its athletes perform and the sponsors want us to watch our athletes perform to sell their products...I am willing to bet you saw more of the Kazakistanis then they did the US wink

OLYMPICS OVER

What are we going to watch now?

I really enjoy watching the olympics because you see sports that you never get to see.

China did a great job hosting.

now that is over

Here are my observations; some may not be politically correct.

1) My fellow Cubans are disappointed because it is impossible to defect from one communist country to another.

2) If you ever visit Jamaica hold on tight to your wallets and pocketbooks, once they start to run you will never catch the pickpockets.

3) The 13 and 14 years old Chinese athletes can now go back to work making Nike shoes.

4) Look out for Fido, dogs are back in the menu at Beijing restaurants.

5) The world acclaimed USA basketball dream team almost got their behind whooped by a 17 year old Spaniard Ricky Rubio.

6) Cuban Angel Valodia Matos kicks Swedish referee Chakir Chelbat, proving that we Cubans are sore loosers.

7) The Muslims are not happy that their females athletes were not allowed to play beach volleyball wearing their burkas.

Thats all for now, see you in London...

Everyone keeps talking about London, but the next Olympic games will be in Vancouver in 2010.

Congratulations Athletes

Congratulations to ALL the athletes that had the opportunity to represent their respective countries'.
Although I routed mostly for the USA, I appreciate the sacrifices, sportsmanship and overall excellence displayed by those rising to the challenges of their sports.

Good job

Overall a very good olympics. I have a feeling there will be a shakeup in the US Track & FIeld department with the dismal US performance. Did anyone notice the magic marker bibs on the sprinters?

No they didn't! There was controversy from day 1 with the fake fireworks and the fact that they replaced the Opening Ceremony singer with a "cuter girl" but kept the original girl's voice. Then there was the age violations, and then the controversy that China was influencing the judges (probably though $$$) to have a negative bias against other countries. mad

Oh, and let's not forget about the fact that hundreds, if not thousands of workers were out of work for several weeks because the government shut down dozens of industrial plants to help clean up the air...which on the opening day still looked pretty thick and nasty. It was only after several heavy rainstorms that the air looked healthy enough to breathe.

Hopefully Vancouver and London can help erase the memory of Beijing.

Next Olympics

The next SUMMER Olympics is in London 2012
The next WINTER Olympics is in Vancouver 2010
The OLYMPICS most of the world identify with is the SUMMER OLYMPICS. Hence, see you in London 2012.

.

That and the fact the the Summer Olympics always hands off to the next Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics always hands off to the next Winter Olympics.

amazing fetes

You can't compare athletes in different sports. Each is the best of their sport. Micheal has one maybe two more Olympics and can only add to his total medal count. Agreed Lance has undoubtedly left one mark that will be hard to break. But its hard to say one is better than the other it's only an opinion.
