voice recognition and map version compatability

I recently bought a 720 that came with North America map v710.1584 and voice recognition works. My understanding is that the current North America map is v7.20. Does anyone know if voice recognition will still work with v7.20. If not can it be made to work.

Tom Tom 720 Voice ?
I have a Tom Tom that is now at the 8.01 version level via TomTom Home updates. I do not know what map version I have.
The original unit is the 8M00.780.7.01.
I added the required .Dat file into the ASR folder, yet I see no icons anywhere for voice recognition.
1- Is there a strict version leval and map level to get the VR working ? What are the hard requirements ?
2- If so, how do I determinine my map level and adjust if neccessary ??
