760 Erase/Reinstall Maps

Is there a way to erase base maps on the 760? I updated to the 2009 maps but then I used Bobcat to make a route and allowed it to install maps that correspond with the route...didn't need to and now it take longer to boot up. I want to erase the maps and just reinstall the 2009 maps unless there is a separate file I can delete that has that basemap I installed from Bobcat.

Any idea how I do this?

Thanks!

I know how to do it

But definately would advise against it... Before you do anything you regret back up you entire gps...
edit:
You have a map of the U.S & Canada, but if you go somewhere else in the world the base map will at least give you major highways and cities...

Well...

Maybe I'll just leave it alone. I'm just starting to use Windows again and don't know as much as I do on the Mac side. I cloned the GPS but who knows if it will work again if I ever have to use those cloned files.

With windows

Right click on start, select explore, scroll down to the garmin nuvi and copy the garmin folder to your c drive or any other drive you may have.. and you have a backup....

BTW the two maps you want (to leave alone0) (edit)are the files gmapprom.img and gmapbmap.img are the two maps you want to have… Guess which is the base map...

.

If you accidentally sent maps, they will be in a file separate from your basemap and your preloaded detail maps.

Look for a file named GMAPSUPP.IMG. This is a file of supplemental maps that you loaded to the unit. If you did not intend to send maps or if you sent maps identical to the ones that were preloaded, you can delete this file.

Do not try to delete your preloaded maps or your basemap. (which are the files indicated above).

Thanks so much.

This is the most helpful bunch of people I've come across on the internet.

I see that file you mentioned is 77MB. I just took it out and all is back to normal. Boots up just fine again.

I made sure to set the preference in Bobcat not to load maps.

THANK YOU.

Just a thought for posterity

All you folks in this position may want to copy and save this file for inclusion on the GPS later. Wouldn't that save a bit of time and effort?
