GPX File Format?

Hello:

I was looing on the site and I was wondering if the GPX format file is going to be maintained any longer? It looks like originally it was in both formats, but it appears on the CSV version is being updated.

If the GPX format is not going to be updated, then I would say we need to recommend to the site maintainers to have it removed since nobody is maintaining it any longer.

Thanks

Alan

thanks

I'll be certain these are removed.

As to my contact email, it's an address I rarely check so let me look and see what you propose.

Hello GPSgeek, I have reviewed the CSV file and this location is already listed in there. I am not sure if it is in the GPX version, but if not, I will be working to get it up to date with this and I am sure many others.

Thanks for the location and keep them coming.

Alan

This is good! I like BBQ!

Updated files

I have updated both versions of the files (CSV & GPX) with a lot of new locations and cleaned up some old ones that have closed.

Please add any new locations (or closed locations) here so I can update the files as needed.

Thanks

Phil's BBQ is the best BBQ in San Diego! Consistently rated one of the best BBQ restaurants by leading publications such as 'Relish', LocalEats and ABCNews.com. The long lines (most of the time, especially during dinner) are always worth it in the end. A trip here will be the best BBQ culinary decision you can make while in San Diego.

Phil's has expanded to four family owned locations in San Diego county. Besides the original one above, please add:

Phil's BBQ (2)

Question for the group.

I have just started maintaining these POI files and I have added quite a few new sites, especially in the New England area, but I also noticed that a few have multiple locations. This file is supposed to be for non-chain, but what defines a chain? Is it nationwide? More than 2 or 3 locations?

I am asking this question because I want to make sure we stay true to the theme of this with non-chain and mom/pop type locations, but I also don't want to take away from great BQQ places.

If I can get a consensus of what non-chain (or maybe what a chain) is, then I can ensure I update the file and remove (or add) locations that meet this.

Thanks

Alan

Franchise, Or Not?

If there are several locations, but all are only local to each other, then NOT a chain. Just a successful business man. If the multi locations are in different cities, then that would, at the least, border on being a chain. A quick search of the business to see if Franchises are available would end the question. To me, a franchise is for a chain.

I like that explanation. I believe one that is listed may offer franchises, so I'll have to research and check it out. I believe most of them are not chains then, by this definition, so I feel better about some of the ones I added then.

Thanks again.
