Take it to your secret location and turn it on or call Garmin for instructions on returning it to them.

If you have your Garmin locked with a password and don't remember I think all you have to do is turn it on at the exact location you set the password. If I remember correctly you have to open your antenna to set the password. So if you don't remember the password and say you set the password at home, if you open the antenna at home and start it it shouldn't ask for a password. From there I think you can change the password or at least do a factory reset.

I wouldn't advise anyone to answer that question. The chance is too great that you are NOT the owner of the unit. And, even if you are, there is no way for us to know that.

Man.... I think I'm too naive sometimes. I rarely think the worse of someone...... but not using your GPS for 8 months! Guys I think you may be right; it does sound a little funny. I hope we're wrong though.

And he joined this site just before he posted. But no harm done if he doesn't know the secret location. Most of us choose that so no one will guess it.

The only thing you can do is contact Garmin and send it back to them.

If you are the registered owner, they will send it back to you.

If you aren't the registered owner, they will contact the registered owner and possibly the local authorities.

This is the only way.

If he is not the registered owner, I think the chances that he will send it in just went down.
