760 Stuttering Voice fixed

We went on a long trip (4 hours) a few weeks ago and the stuttering on the 760 was unbelievable. I hadn't noticed it all that much until this trip, but as the day went on, the stuttering seemed to get worse (or it just got more on my nerves).

I upgraded to the latest firmware (3.1 I think), I noticed updated voices were posted, so I updated the voices. When done, I ran the Nuvi through a disk defrag.

Haven't noticed a stutter since and it has been about a week or so.

Just FYI in case anybody else is still stut-tter-rring.

disk defrag

How did you run defrag on the nuvi? Is it done from your computer or using a tool on the nuvi?

read the discussion on defrag. search defrag. sounds like it can cause problems and it is not really necessary.

Not necessary

If you did defrag, it would be done from the computer. However, the nuvi uses a flash drive and they do not require defragging.

The updated voice files is probably what solved the other gentleman's problem.

Yes, I defragged it from the computer. I didn't think it would make much difference, but I gave it a shot anyway. I wasn't worried about problems as I have a backup should something go wrong.

I really don't know if it was the firmware update, voice update, defrag or a combination of the above that fixed the stuttering, but it works now.
