NUVI 680 (maps and POI'S accidently deleted)

My Nuvi 680 had maps and POI'S accidentally deleted, how do I fix it?

Pontential fix

I've heard you can press and hold the reset button and the unit will restore itself, but it could be a myth. Let us know if it works.

Cheers!

Did you backup the unit

If so, you should be able to copy them back via the USB cable.

If not, you may need to contact Garmin.

.

Holding the reset button will not restore deleted maps.

If you don't have a backup on your computer, then you have to call Garmin for assistance.

Have you checked your recycle/trash bin?

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

.

Typically on PCs, deleted files from removable drives do not go to the Recycle Bin. They get deleted.

Macs (as we have found out) create a hidden trash folder for the deleted files.

Not true...

If you make sure 'View Hidden Folders' is checked in Folder view (on the PC), you'll see the Recycle Bin on the GPS! grin
