MSN Direct on Nuvi 760

Had switched to the MSN direct cable a few months ago for use on the nuvi 760. I have never seen an "avoid" or an audio alert ever on the "main navigation screen" or the " msn traffic screen". If I switch myself to the traffic screen it shows the traffic situations ( no avoids ) and I believe has always shown my chosen route to be in the "green"! I have clicked the traffic check-box both ways under "avoidances" in the NAVIGATION menu, yet results are the same.. The old TMC cable worked as expected with audio alerts re-routing etc....Have also tried using the "simulator" to get different results,,,Anyone else?

Fortunately, I don't have to

Fortunately, I don't have to worry much about traffic since I don't take the major roads. However, I would like to see what would happen should I get near traffic, like you. I have not heard or seen a warning, but I just might have to drive toward traffic one of these days to see what does happen.

Looking forward to hearing what does happen from those who use MSN as well.

Visual alerts

I have tried both the MSN and FM traffic receivers on the 7xx series and others supporting them.

I receive visual alerts on the map at the "location", and see area-wide alerts on the traffic screens.

Visual alerts

In my experience, it will show you the delays in the little yellow sign on the side of the screen, but will only avoid if:

1) You hit the yellow sign and instruct the GPS to change routes or

2) The delay is long enough to exceed the time of the detour; in which case it will automatically change route.

Michael.

MSN Alerts

I have a Nuvi 780 and I use the MSN Direct. The one thing that comes up is the icon which is a sign with a number in it which tells you how long your delay is. You can click on that sign and then it'll ask you about avoiding it or detouring. But sometimes if you click on it, the route you are going is still the most optimized route so it won't re-route you because it says your route is already optmizied. I have had it re-route me when I clicked the icon with the number in the middle of the sign. Sometimes it can take you way out of the way. So it's one of those you have to just make a decision and go with it.

Thanks all,

I have only seen alerts such as "floods" appear on the main screen. If clicked they show a colorful, more detailed map of the affected area. smile Never once in months have ever seen anything clickable of traffic!

760 with TMC

I use a TMC traffic receiver with a 760 and it works the same way. I get an audio "traffic alert ahead" warning when the icon pops up. There is a Traffic option in the Avoidances menu to automatically avoid traffic. I prefer to just be warned and decide myself if I want to leave the route, so I have that menu option turned off. I also like the option to bring up the list of all roads in the area and see what other problems are going on.
