Going to Lancaster Pa.

Hi,
I am taking a trip to Lancaster Pa next week and creating a POI file that has all the local area and sites to go to.. Like places to see and do, places to eat, maybe ewven the hotels in the area. (guess something like a tour guide.)

Almost done with it too. What I am wondering is would other people here like it for there use. I try to create these things when I go on a trip to a area.

If you do, let me know and I will upload it here for all.

Lancaster is a great place to visit

I live about 30 miles from Lancaster and always enjoy my trips. I think a POI of Lancaster attractions is a great idea. Please post it.

Lancaster POI's

Hi, everyone,

I agree, please post the file. My wife and I visit Lancaster frequently, but always seem to have predetermined places to go. This file will help us to see more of this beautiful area.

Miki

LOVE IT !!!

I go there at least twice a year and I've been manually listing favorite locations and places into my Garmin from those cartoon maps they have out there... Would love to see what you come up with...

The family loves to go to

The family loves to go to Lancaster, PA.
I know my way around fairly well and have our staples, but I would love to have a POI listing to check out.

Thanks for considering the rest of us in your worthwhile endeavor!

one for Places to Shop (122 entries)
and one for places to eat (96 entries)

I did not do Places to stay, there were more than 200 of them and I thought if your going, you would have a hotel by then anyways! hehe

Bobkz - didn't get a chance to look at your file yet, but did you include the Corn Maze?

www.cherrycrestfarm.com

You should do that while your there ... if you have the time! It was a lot of fun ... especially with the kids.

got a pic

I have been given a great picture for the front page by Charles45, thanks for sending that in.

We can still use more pics so that the other files can have some also.

Miss POI

Please explain a simple way one goes about placing the POI package on the SD card so it can be used in a Nuvi GPSR. Tried to send it to the card from the computer, but no procedure was available.

Thanks,

Ray

No matter where you are "Life is Worth Living".

You use the same process to

You use the same process to send the file to the sd card as to the gps with two changes.1.Put the card into your gps unit and hook gps up to your computer using the usb cable.2.Run poiloader and when it gets to find device you will see a small arrow across from device click on it for the pull down window and select your sd card.Continue on with the process as usual.

YOU EVEN GOT LASERDOME IN THERE... GREAT PLACE TO TAKE THE KIDS FOR LASER TAG, ARCADE GAMES, AND LASER LIGHT SHOW CONCERTS...
HAVE A NICE TRIP.

Thanks!

I used the new POI files a lot last week on our trip. They came in handy!

I also found a nice restaurant that you can add.

Country Table Family Restaurant

Great food and good prices!

Thanks for all of your input.

It is nice to know that the work we do to create a POI file pays off and people use them!

I also used it and it was great. I will be creating one everytime I plan to go .. do the internet research and create the poi, so that when I am there and we need to find something to do, Just have to look at the cutom one and find something that I saw on the internet.. Then I will also share them with everyone here!

Have you ever been to the Green Dragon in Lancaster? If not then you should go; it's feted as the largest outdoor market on the east coast.

Here's the link: http://www.greendragonmarket.com/

Freedom isn't free...thank you veterans! Heard about the tests to detect PANCREATIC CANCER? There aren't any! In Memoriam: #77 NYPD-SCA/Seattle Mike/Joe S./Vinny D./RTC!

Our recent trip.

We went for three day to Lancaster, PA on the weekend of the 26th. We had great weather and the kids who have been asking all summer long to go were more than thrilled. We spent MANY hours at Dutch Wonderland- the dreams of a 3 and 5 year old!

I know my way around, and we have our many usual stops (always more than you can contain in a weekend- especially with so many Sunday and even some Monday closings).

This time I toyed with Bob's three Lancaster POI. Wow...what a great resource. I wanted to be able to repay the favor by alerting him to a few that he may have missed, but he basically covered all of the bases.

There were some very very new establishments that were not listed, like a Panera Bread store in a newly opened Wal-Mart shopping area but every place I liked he already accounted for.

Having someone already sort POI by shopping, eating ans sites made the lists so much more useful than the built-in POI.

Bob- thanks again!

To kb2psm:

Thanks for your kind words.. It is nice to know that people are using some of my POI files and they are put together so they are easer to use..

I was not sure how to break up the info and came up with that idea. I am planing to make more of those type of guides since they have been used and liked.

I did not put in regular resturants and such since it was for a vacation and when there you want the local food and such. I felt that normal or "Chain" resturants could be found if you wanted it. This was more for new ideas, to get people to "Think out of the box"

Again, Thanks for your input!

Keeping the POI uncluttered.

I agree, which is why although I mentioned it, I didn't bother to report such establishments for your POI or bother to capture the coordinates myself. All of the fast food and mainstream entries would only muddle the effort you have so successfully preserved!

bridgehouse

I have a picture of bridgehouse I can share with.
Last trip was 6 years ago. Like to go back since we did not go through everything there.

POI file has been Updated..

I updated this file from 2008 to 2015. I am sure there are places that I missed that could be listed in these poi files, so just let me know the Name and Address of the place (if you know the Cord, that is a plus)

Have a great time!
