Connecting Traffic Receiver for first time.

Am traveling to the East coast of the States this month from Ireland, will be using a Nuvi 370 that came with a GTM 12. I purchased the Nuvi traveling home last Autumn and have never connected the GTM 12 to the Nuvi as there is no FM traffic service in Ireland, I have one question:
Can I plug the GTM 12 into the Nuvi when I get to DC and will it still activate my 3 month trial period after all this time?
I have regularly updated the nuvi via WebUpdater which included updates for the traffic receiver, bluetooth etc.

I believe your trial subscription is activated once the GTM 12 receives its first traffic info, if you're in an area without the traffic service it will not activate. Therefore if DC is the first area ( that has traffic)that your GTM receiver encounters traffic info then your subscription will start then.
