Loading POI files on a nuvi200

I'm a new Garmin user with a nuvi200. I can use the Garmin POI loader to add the various POI files to my GPS. However, how do I add POI's with BMP indicators and alert sounds?

Thank you.

Put them in the same file

and give the same name as the poi with a different extension i.e. redlight.poi, redlight.bmp, redlight.mp3. then load them with the manual mode if you want alerts..

Loading POIs

DO you mean put them inthe ame directory as the POI and the manual load will do the rest?

Yes

He meant the same folder/directory.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Sorry about that..

I should have gone dancing... I meant folder rather than file..

Well I'm leaving now...

Pois for nuvi200

Just create a main folder on your computer and from that folder make subfolders and name them like you want based on the pois you download. Then put the csv,bmp and mp3 files into the correct subfolder.Run poi loader and direct it to the main folder not the subfolders.Once complete it will show number of pois loaded.Go where to on gps,my locations then custom pois or extras and you should see lising of your custom pois.

This is what it should look like on your computer based on my example.

My pois=main folder

>>Food=subfolder
>>>McDonalds.csv
>>>Mcdonalds.bmp
>>>Mcdonalds.mp3
>>>BurgerKing.csv
>>>BurgeKing.bmp
>>>BurgerKING.MP3

>>Alerts=subfolder
>>>Redlight cameras.csv
>>>Redlight cameras.bmp
>>>Redlight cameras.mp3
>>>Speed cameras.csv
>>>Speed cameras.bmp
>>>Speed cameras.mp3

I still don't understand why

I still don't understand why people would want alerts for the fast food restaurants. There is one at every block these days.

The directions for loading POI and .bmp files is correct. Put them in the same directory, named the same (except for the extension, of course) and then load them. The 200, however, does not have a .mp3 player so it will not play any alert sound you may load to it.

To each his own

I am sure we can all make that same statement about 99% of the POI files here but people are interested in different things and have different needs for them. While YOU may not want a particular POI file, there are others that will.

Different strokes,

But it will play .WAV files, if built using POILoader V2.5.2 (or the Mac beta version).
