Best Buy & Garmin Nuvi 350

I bought a Nuvi 350 over a year ago at Best Buy, and against my better judgement bought the 4 year service plan for an additional $53. Well it paid of in spades today!! My Nuvi was frequently freezing up and/or losing sat signal. So instead of calling Garmin I went back to Best Buy. Within minutes I had a brand new Nuvi 350, and free access to the 2009 map update. So of course I bought another service plan for $53 and plan on bringing it back in about a year, or whenever the new map updates come out. I know, I know I'm manipulating a system to work in my advantage.

Doesn't add up

So of course I bought another service plan for $53 and plan on bringing it back in about a year,
I must be missing something. There should still be about 2 1/2 years remaining on your original service contract, right? So why pay for a new one?
The only potential hitch in your plan is if they insist that you show them what is wrong with it when you take it back!!

Best buy has been good
Best buy has treated me right in the past with the Service Agreements. I have heard people that say they are just a rip off...But they are even transferable. I bought a Nikon P&S camera from a friend..it had the 4 yr plan.. 2 yrs after I bought it the SD card wouldnt read. Well they no longer made that Camera..so I got a Much better one with the same features..
I have heard that Costco has the same warranty built in with there products..You can return them for any reason..

Best Buy Extended Warranty Has Been Great
I don't purchase extended warranties on too many items, but I did on a side-by-side refrigerator 4 years ago. This past Christmas, the fridge went out while we were away. We came home to a mess. We called the Best Buy warranty department, they set up an appointment with a local service company and within a day it was fixed. We even had a $200 food spoilage clause. My wife put together a brief list of the contents and without hassle, we got a check for $200 in a couple weeks.
We've had good experiences with Best Buy's warranties.

Service plans are one time use on the product purchased, so to get the same plan on the replacement Nuvi I had to buy a new plan.
