Splash Screen

Just wanted to see if a page was created yet for custom Splash Screens. I submitted mine but haven't seen it here or any others with the exception of the poi-factory.

Images

If there is a certain subject or image you would like I have close to 80,000 pictures I've taken over the last 7 years with my digital cameras.

I mainly Shoot: Nature, Wildlife, Lighthouses(Of course), Barns, OceanScapes, Sunsets, Animals and a few other things. I can resize the picture and upload them here if anyone is interested.

Splash Screens

Here is a previous explaination from Jim...

The Garmin site offers a download called "ximage". This can be found on the "support and download' page.

On the Garmin c340 "ximage" allows one to download and change the splash screen. It also allows the download the current screen image, if one wanted to do a show-n-tell.

The help information says "ximage" can add waypoints, but that was not an option for the c340. Perhaps on some of the more advanced models one can add waypoints.

I downloaded the Garmin splash screen and saved it, if I should need it again. I then reduced an image of my camper, while on a trip, to 4.444" wide by 3.333" high image to get a 226kb image. I added our name on the image and then uploaded it to the Garmin. It looks great and added

WayPoints

I will have to go back and look at this but I couldn't figure out how to do the waypoints with my 2720.

re kle262

If you have the Street Pilot c550, it is quite easy to make the splash screens. When connected to your PC, look on the Garmin drive and you will see one .jpg which is a copy of your splash screen. If you copy that to your PC and check the parameters (dimensions), you can make another file just like it. What I did for a test was to take the original screen, open it in Photoshop, and add my name and address. I then saved it with a different name as a jpg at 10. Move this file into the main directory of the Garmin. You do not have to remove the other picture.

From the Garmin tools menu, under display, you choose splash screen and can then see all of the images on the Garmin. Choose the new one and it will ask if you want this to be your splash screen. After confirmation, your new image is installed.

So it is safe to say that when Mapsource is installed on the home PC and it applies the Customized Waypoint Symbols folder within the Garmin Folder, it does not apply to our C340 models as Splash Screen and Screen Shot are the available options in Ximage only .
