Going to Rhode Island this fri (5/6/08)

I am going to RI this weekend and want to know some good siteseeing places to go to.. Also the best place to get lobster for dinner. I will be leaving from NYC (about 3 hrs) and going to Warwick on fri and return on sunday night.

I did download some of the great POI file here to help me get there and back and show places that I would be intrested in but still would like some input for good lobster and manybe steaks. Also I have a young daughter that I would like to take her and show around..

Any ideas???

If you are going to be around Newport then you should definitely check out Cliff Walk and the Historic Newport Ten Mile drive which will take you past many of the mansions as well as Hammersmith Farm and the New York Yacht Club.

Champlin's Seafood

Champlin's Seafood, Galilee, RI

You can even buy your own lobster right off the pier as the boats come in and have Champlins cook it for you. It does not get any fresher unless you cook it on the boat! smile

OK.. Am back from RI

Very small place to vist... I was asking many people that lived in RI what is a good site seeing place and they all told me they dont go anywhere.. very boring.

Anyways, I did find a few nice places to go.. We stayed in the province aera and did not go to newport since it was more than 45 min away. I want to thank all for your input .. it really did help.

We got to see a few things and even got our lobster that we wanted.. bte it tasted ust like Corn on the cob but very chewy. it is to taste like that? or was it cooked bad?

Anyways, Where ever we went, i loaded all the neat poi files here and they all worked great! It even told me where a few red lights cams were. So cool

Ok.. Again tank you aqll for your reat info for i did use it and found my way around ...

YOU GOT TO LOVE GPS!!!

Was it boiled or baked? It sounds like you might have had baked. Baked lobster gets kind of dry. BTW Red Lobster does not count for eating a lobster. smile

Next time you will have to go see the Newport mansions. That is the main attraction in RI besides fishing (and clean beaches).
