I'll be happy to jump in with all of the parks and park entrances in the Cleveland Metroparks system. It'll probably take me a couple of weeks before I have a deliverable.

How far outside of the "metro area" should we go? The Amish area of Ohio might be better suited for a "Northeast Ohio" or "Ohio Amish" project maybe? Just asking. grin

It is ok to include things that would fit in a day trip from the urban area.

There are a lot of tourists that come to the Metro Area page to see what there is to do in that city and they may be interested in taking a day trip out to the Amish Country.

Change to your restaurant POI

Rick, a couple of things:
Your restaurant list includes a restaurant that is no longer in business. It's Fanny's, the second entry in the list.

And if you would, can you change your profile to allow folks here in the factory to e-mail you directly with corrections? I'd just as soon notify authors directly instead of cluttering up the public postings with minutiae. Thanks.

Cleveland OH Project - Cuyahoga Valley National Park, etc

I am interested in helping with this project. Specifically, I am interested in Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Connecting Metroparks of Cleveland and Summit County.

Over the years I've collected some waypoints for the trailheads (parking lots), canal lock locations and mile markers on the Ohio & Erie Canal, Stations on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Rail Road, Visitor Centers, attractions, and the like.

It might take a bit to compile because my information is spread over many gps units and pcs and now a Mac.

How can I help?

Cool

N8tyv,
That sounds like a great file to have on the site and linked to the Cleveland Metro page.
Here is a link to our FAQ area regarding Creating POI Files http://www.poi-factory.com/node/6664

Go ahead and make the file and then use the "upload and share a CSV or GPX file" feature to the right of your screen.

Let me know if you need any other help.

Wow. Sounds like you've been doing EXACTLY what I want to start doing with the Metroparks/Towpath paved trails!! I just got a Nuvi 350 and this was the first thought in my head. I don't know how to add/make poi files - I'm learning as I go here... I'd love to have some of the Metroparks bike trails on my Garmin.

Cuyahoga Valley

Gentle Soul:

Hopefully, you've stumbled on my first posting of POIs for Cuyahoga Valley. If you have corrections they certainly are appreciated. I'll update as I receive them or as I add more.

When I uploaded the POI file I thought I was linking it to this project and to National Parks and outdoors. That doesn't seem to have happened. I've been involved in GPS in one way or another for a very long time.

Note that I also added icons to go with Cuyahoga Valley. I probably will add more. I was out for about a week with pneumonia (but am getting better) so I haven't done much recently.

I'm still consolidating POIs from all of my old PCs, and GPSs. Some of my points were generated before SA was turned off (really old). I am willing to consolidate any tracks, waypoints, et al you may have, then post them here.

Tradition is such an important part of the Browns, so it's important to note that ever since they were born in 1946, they have played on the same site on the shores of Lake Erie.
From 1946-95, their home was Cleveland Municipal Stadium. The Browns won all eight of their league championships there and hosted 17 postseason games. It is also where 15 men -- 14 players and one coach built careers that eventually landed them in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
On that same footprint is Cleveland Browns Stadium, which was opened in 1999. To keep that tradition going, the playing field at Cleveland Browns Stadium runs east to west, just like it did before, and the Dawg Pound can still be found on the east side of the stadium.

I have been riding this towpath for many years now with my wife, with a Magellan Sport mounted on the handlebars of my bike.
I love having A Great Lake (Erie) in my front yard, and a National Park in my backyard.

Plan a Vacation to beautiful Cleveland Ohio you won't be sorry. Use one of your country's National Parks.

Uploaded new POI's

I'm new to this list and from the Cleveland area. I have uploaded a couple of POI files. My first couple of files are .csv files, although I'm still figuring out the .gpx schema, and once I have it mastered I'll probably do my POI's in that format.

If anyone needs POI's or info for the Cleveland area let me know.
