ICON for POI File

I am new to this, and think that I just loaded the POI file for Good Sam Campgrounds on to my nuvi 650. Now how do I also load the Icon for Good Sam on to the nuvi and then be able to click on it to find a Good Sam campground near a particular location?

poi icon

you have to load the poi file at the same time you load the icon and both must have the same file name excluding the extension

POI Icon

Thanks for the input, but do not know how to do what you said must be done. If you can give any details it would be very helpful.

poi Icon

Go to the icon files and find the good sam icon then download it to the same file folder you put the good sam campgrounds in. then make sure the name is the sam exceto for the ext. Onec you have done that reload the poi and the icon back onto your gps using the poi loader. good luck.

Doesn't Work That Way

You really need to read the FAQs at the top of the page. You have a totally incorrect understanding of what the icon does. It is not clickable to give you the nearest campground -- it is just an icon on the map showing you where a campground is located, like a gas pump shows you where gas stations are located. If you indeed loaded the POI file, you can click on Extras/Custom POIs/Good Sam . . . and it will list the nearest locations.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

I see that you've only been member for an hour or so. You used the POI Loader from Garmin to load the Good Sam file, I hope. And you have that file on your computer desktop, I hope. Now go to the icon page and find the Good Sam icon. Click on that, then click on the file. When you see the little icon, right click on that and use "save image as" to save it to your desktop. Put both the POI file and the image file in a folder with whatever name you want. Make sure the two files are named the same, except for the extension. Use the POI Loader to load them into your unit at the same time.

When you zoom in to 200 ft, the icon will appear on your GPS. I'm not sure that you can click on it to go to it, but give it a try.

Yeah, you can't click on the icon and have it bring up the POI location. The icon will merely show on the screen when you are zoomed in to the appropriate distance.

You will then need to navigation the Custom POI menus on the GPS unit to see the information.
