Maestro 3140 bluetooth and sd card ????

Hello everyone, just signed up. I've just bought a Magellan Maestro 3140 GPS.

I have two questions

1-BLUETOOTH: I've been able to pair the unit with my LG 150 cell phone but when I dial through the GPS, nothing happens. Do you have to subscribe to Bluetooth? Sorry for my ignorance but I have no experience with Bluetooth at all.

2-What make of SD cards work best with the 3140 or does it matter what make?

Thanks for any info

You don't have to subscribe

You don't have to subscribe to bluetooth. Not how it works. Can you tell me exactly what you mean by 'nothing happens'? Like you dial and it goes back to the map or it just stays on the number screen or...?

Most if not all SD cards these days will work. The gps supports FAT32, which is the standard really of SD cards (you might have to format the card just to make sure). If that doesn't work then format to the old FAT.

Thanks for replying. When I tap the phone icon (on the number screen), the background goes from green to blue and there's a minute timer for half a second then back to green, and nothing else. The screen stays on the number screen.

I am not familiar with that

I am not familiar with that specific GPS or Phone however with any two Bluetooth devices you need to make each of them aware the other is there. This is called "pairing." Next you will need to establish a connection. Your manual will explain all of this beginning on page 44. The web address for your manual is:

Maestro 3140 and bluetooth???? RESOLVED

Got it going. I deleted the pairing and started over but instead of phoning from the gps, I tried phoning to it and it worked. Then I tried phoning from it and now it's working all the time. Thanks to all for your help. BTW, I did have the manual and followed the instructions but it wouldn't work for some reason. And all along it was written LG 150 connected at the bottom of my screen, go figure....

Go for the headset

I have the 3140 as well, and after toying with the 3140 and the bluetooth novelty, I've concluded the audio quality leaves a lot to be desired. If you're new to bluetooth, it's worth the investment in a dedicated headset. The microphone on the GPS isn't the best.

The real strong suit to the 3140 is the tourbooks. Next time you're in an unfamiliar city, they'll be a nice addition to your trip.

Thanks for the heads-up clevelander. It seems like perhaps the cell phone was to close to the gps unit. Once I separated them a few feet, the blueetooth feature seem to work. This is only an obervation, far from being an expert.

I'm not a AAA member though for the tourbook feature.

You don't need to be a

You don't need to be a member, it's on your GPS, try it out. I have the 3140 too. The Tourbook feature gives you ratings of places, and a discription of what the business offers. Kinda neat.
