3225- Lat. & Lon. coordinates for POI from "Current Location" save

I have a Maestro 3225. As I passed by a location that I wanted to put in my own enhanced POI file, I went to the "Current Location" screen and saved the location, which goes into the address book. True, I can now route to that location, but I need the Lat and Lon coordinates in order to enter it as a POI in my enhanced POI file. The "Current Location" screen shows Lat and Lon coordinates when you look at it, but does not appear to save them to the address book in a way that I can find them again. Does anybody know a way to retreive the Lat and Lon coordinates from the address book entry created when you "save" a "current location"?

Can't do it

I don't think we can save it except write down the coord then convert into decimal format.

Lat and Long from gpx file

It does save it for you. I backed up my Nuvi 250W to my hard drive. In a folder called gpx is a file called current.gpx. This file has all my favourites in it and when I open it each point has something like wpt lat ="43.718701" lon ="-79.354106" with it.

.

The OP is asking about a Magellan unit.

What program do you use to open the gpx file? XP does not know on my computer. I haven't tried opening the back-up, just the one in Garmin.

Can we take these Garmin related posts out of this thread?

To answer your question, you can use MapSource, EasyGPS, POI Edit, GeePeeExx and a variety of others.

File Open

I just click on it and it opens with Windows NotePad.

convert address book to poi

I am in sales, and I want to create POI as I drive by potential customers in my sales territory. On my Magellan Crossover, when I tap on the current location bar, I can save the location in the address book. However, I want to be able to use the alerts in the enhanced POI functions to let me know when I am passing that location again during a future trip. How do I save the current locations as POI instead of saving in address book? Or, how do you convert the address book to POI?

I don't know this for sure but, based on my limited experience with other Magellan models, I'm betting that the answer is: With pencil and paper. That is, find them in the address book, write them down and use that for manual input in a custom POI file.
