Magellan Maestro 3225 Battery Life

Does anyone have an idea about how long the battery lasts? Mfr specs say it lasts for 2 hours.

I use it mostly powered by the car, but I have had it in the house playing with it for at least a couple of hours, no problem.

It's about that time (2

It's about that time (2 hours), but make sure you hold that button down to shut off completely.

Auto Shut Off

I have also found it to be about 2 hrs. It IS a good idea to make sure you shut down completely, but it will shut off if not "touched." In menu options, you can set it for 10, 20, or 30 minutes (or never). You can also adjust the screen brightness when on battery if you want to experiment to try to get even more time out of it.

The one thing that I wish

The one thing that I wish that Magellan could have done was place a light to indicate if it was completely turned off or just standby mode. Oh well, for 150, it's all good.

Is there a difference

Is there a difference between stand by mode and off?

I would think that stand by

I would think that stand by mode is still using power, while totally off is not.....I think smile

Battery Life, Magellan 3225

I estimate that I probably get a solid 3 hours out of my Mag 3225 on one charge. I never even use the 12v cable for local trips, since I never leave the unit in the car after I get home (I live in a hot climate, so I take portable electronics in the house) -- I just charge it in the home with the 110v charger, and even then, I only have to charge it after about three days of errands.

Same here.. I haven't needed to use the car charger yet.

The longest I've used it is about 3 hours, and when I got home I checked the remaining battery power left and it said basically only 1/4 was used.

From this, I would say that the battery life must be at least 4 hours or more. Not everyone may have similar results, but this is just from my personal experience.

I am using the car charger

I am using the car charger only after the battery is fully depleted. I found that the battery is OK for 3 hours.

Does everyone else's seem to

Does everyone else's seem to charge quickly? I keep my 3200 plugged in anytime its on in the car, but I've never seen the battery indicator full and it seems to die within a 1/2 hour if unplugged. Maybe I haven't been turning it off completely?

Not right

Maybe but it should be good in standby for several DAYS, not hours.

Sounds to me like you need to get it charged good once, like by having it plugged in for a couple of hours while NOT turned on.....either in the car or connected to an AC adaptor or computer.

Of course, this could be a sign of a bad battery or charging circuit in the unit.

PS Many cars these days do NOT have power to the lighter socket when the ignition is OFF.

Sleep Mode

I noticed that my 3225 goes in sleep mode when running on battery and idle, which is OK. The fun is, sometimes does not wake-up at all when I am trying to power it up using the power button; - even if I know for sure that the battery is full. To have it back working I have to plug in the car charger - just for 1 minute is enough and after that will run on the battery untill the battery is depleted.

Battery dies quickly

Even after charging it overnight, my 3200 only lasts a few minutes on battery power. I know the battery is defective and have contacted Magellan to find out how to change the battery. They never responded.

Battery or charger?

Could be the battery OR a bad charger. If you have it plugged in in a car, does it charge then?

You need to contact them again.....after you figure out for sure if it is the battery or the charger.

Batteries are usually not user replaceable and requires a trip to Magellan for replacement.
