Magellan POI File Editor - Update on limitations

Version 4.1.1.0 of the Magellan POI File Editor comes with the 3225. It does not appear to have the 1000 POI per category limitation previously posted in this forum. I loaded the Combined Rest Area file from this site which has 1816 POI entries, and all 1816 showed up in the final .mgln file.

Magellan POI File Editor - Update on limitations

I don't know about earlier versions, but Version 4.1.1.0 does have a 10,000 POI per category limitation. I found that out when I loaded a CSV file with over that number into the editor and it would not let me save it as a MGLN file.

How did you handle the POI

How did you handle the POI then? Did you divide them into 2 separate files? If so, is there a way to combine them on the unit itself or does it follow the same per category limitation?

For now, I created a new CSV file with just the POIs I know I'll want handy on an upcoming trip, loaded that into the file editor and saved it as MGLN file.

Dividing the original POI file into two or more files and then converting them to MGLN files seems to be the only option.

But you can then combine two or more MGLN files into one MGLN file with multiple categories in it. Someone has already posted instructions on how to do this by copying a category within a MGLN file and pasting it into another MGLN file. However, the category limit per MGLN file is ten. Load the final MGLN file into your Magellan unit and you're good to go.
