Magellan 3225 accuracy calibration

Morning all,

Does anyone know how to re-calibarte their magellan for accuracy? I know the units are supposed to be accurate to within 5m or 5' I can't recall, but mine's off by about 30-50m, which means i'm often missing turns (even with the voice on). Any thoughts on this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Only Magellan knows for sure.

If you have good satellite lock when that happens, your unit is defective. Hope you got it recently and can do an exchange where you got it.

Good luck if you have to deal with Magellan.

I don't think we can calibrate it. Call Magellan to see what they have to say about it and share with us here about your finding.

Magellan 3225 accuracy calibration

I have noticed the same with my 3225 - Reset the unit with no luck.

I wonder if the satellites have been off-set or is it just the 3225 models or are other units affected??

So I spoke with Magellan and

So I spoke with Magellan and here's what i've been told;

1) Reset the unit
2) From the address book, enter an address and choose each of the four routing options to get there. (this will need to be done four times, obliviously)

if steps 1 & 2 don't work, then:
1) reset the unit
2) use miles rather than km (or vice versa)
3) change to 2d mode

if all else fails, call again.

Tip on contacting Magellan; they're tech support line doesn't work (option #4) so choose sales (option #1) and ask to be transfered to tech support. Companies always want to take your money! smile

I'll try these out and let you know what works.

In my hunt, I've also come across this article from Magellan support

https://www.magellangps.com/support/faqdetail.asp?faqid=85&p...

Now the SSA is supposed to be turned off, but the problems i'm experiencing match the description given by the support article. Leads me to think that the SSA is still active.

Accurracy correction - solutions!

So, after my phone call with Magellan yesterday, I tried the first set of instructions, but to no avail.

I then reset the unit again and followed the second set of instructions and found that changing the unit to 2d from 3d, the unit's accuracy did in fact increase.

After using the unit in 3d and noticing the lack of accuracy, I switched over to 2d in the middle of my trip and the accuracy actually increased.

There's your solution folks!

Have a great one!

Ahem.....I'm sorry but that doesn't sound much like a solution to me !! Unless you can then go back to 3D and still have it work right. The mode of the display should NOT affect the accuracy. It certainly does NOT on my 4000.

You can be happy with that if you want but I don't think it's right. That makes one of their "banner" features useless.
