memory (low internal memory question)

twisted Why does the Garmin Streetpilot series have such low internal memory. My C330 has about 5 MB of memory. i want to be able to put as many POI's in my Garmin as I want.

This would be a question you would need to ask Garmin.

You would need to purchase a model that is capable of reading Custom POIs from the SD card to get a larger number of Custom POIs.

There's NO unit that I'm aware of that will allow you to load as many POIs on it as you want. That would be impossible. The solution is to purchase a unit with expandable memory.

See thread

See thread http://www.poi-factory.com/node/268 you only have 2mb for pois.

At least with the Nuvi 350 (and other nuvis) you can place POIs on the SD card which would in esence make it expandable.

I am not sure if anyone could fill up 4 GBs worth of POIs, by time they could, we would have terabyte cards.

Nice thing...

...about my nuvi 260. I have 6 mb of custom POI's installed, and I still have 135 mb of available space without even needing to add a card. I can guarantee that I will never use all that up. Most POI files only take up a few kb of memory, so filling up 100 mb is inconceivable to me. Even a file like the Burger King USA is only .56 mb, and it is huge.

I don't leave all the POI's on the unit anyway. Quite a number of them I only load up for certain trips, but I store them on the PC so they are easily accessible.

When you buy an outdated GPS I guess you have to expect that there will be a down side to it. That c330 is old technology as GPS goes.
