New Nuvi 260 Q: How do I charge from a generic USB cable?

I know this has probably been asked and answered before, but I was wondering how to charge my new Nuvi 260 with a USB cable (from a digital camera). Do I simply boot up, unplug the cable, re-plug it, and insert the Nuvi? Will it start charging automatically? How long will it take for the initial charge?

If it matters, I am running Windows Vista.

Doesn't it just charge when plugged in?

What happens if you simply plug it in? I believe it should charge. It will also go into Mass Storage Mode and show up as a drive on your computer, but even though it isn't showing a charging icon, it should still be charging.

Charging Nuvi

All you need to do is plug it into a usb port an let it charge, as stated above. Be sure and go to the Garmin website and regiter your unit, and get Webupdater and Poiloader, both are necessary.

If it goes into storage mode when you connect it to the PC, it is already charging. It will take about twice as long to charge this way as it will in the car or with an AC adapter.
