Garmin GPS units are NOT radar detectors, if that is what you meant.

permanent -vs- temporary

The only way to get any such thing into a POI, is when the "radar" is stationary, like a known speed-camera that is permanently set up.
any other kind of radar-trap will usually be temporary, and therefore moved around often. You cant put these into a POI, as far as I know.

There is also a radar
There is also a radar detector I've seen that has a GPS built in that remembers where it has alerted. It supposedly gives you advance warning prior to arriving at that same location. No personal experience with that unit.
