Which model do you have? They may all be different.

I only have a 250W and can't do many fancy things. But when I connect it to my computer I can see it as a drive and drag images onto it. It might only take jpg's though.

For POI's?

If you want to use a bmp for a POI icon, see:
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/4359 .

Most members seem to prefer 24x 24 pixels, but regardless of size you choose, make sure it is an even number of pixels -- 16, 18 . . . up to 24.

Adding BMP Files

I figured it out. You put the bmp in the same folder that the cvs files are in. Make sure it is spelled exactly the same way, and instead of cvs, put bmp. Works GREAT !

Pixels

Why? I did one that's 20x13. It looks fine.

Scrambled Colors

See thread: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/11233 . Two people solved a problem with icon having scrambled colors by changing to even number of pixels. If you have a problem, you know what to try first.

That's an odd issue. (No pun intended.)

I have many icons that have odd numbers of pixels.

1x1
15x15
5x5
19x10
19x11
15x14
21x22
13x13
15x14
15x11
16x11

I'm wondering if the issue was more the fact that the icon was too large. Don't know. But when I just checked, I found that MOST of my icons have an odd number of pixels.

CVS Files

I checked all my folders and found no cvs file. What folder is it in?

.

The CSV files are the Custom POI files that you download or create. If you want to load BMP icons as Custom Icons for your Custom POI files, you must place the BMP and CSV files in the same folder on your computer and name them exactly the same except for the file extension.

Look here for more info.

Surely you knew somebody would ask -- what could you possibly do with a 1x1 icon? I guess you could play a trick on somebody by putting them all around their house so that when they turned the unit on it looks like a bunch of bad pixels. Aside from that . . .?

I use the 1x1 for the zip code file. I don't need to have a bunch of gray dots all over the place on the map, so I load the 1x1 for things for which I don't want to have an icon (not even the default icon).

A perfect explanation as usual. Thanks.
