Good and bad

Yep, what I have seen it look like they have updated the UI as well. Hopefully these enhancements will be available for Nuvi 200 users via a patch. Anyway, my 200 works like a treat and I am not going to lust (too much) over the new Garmin offerings ...

Looks like new hardware as well as software

Probably no software upgrade for existing 2x0 models since the article does mention hardware upgrades (faster processor) so some of the new features may depend on the new hardware upgrades.

But we shall see. Maybe they can add a few bells and whistles to our current models. As AJHope already said, I am happy with what I have as it does the job.

Cheers,
PT

I am happy with my Nuvi 250w

I am happy with my Nuvi 250w as it now stands. But, having said that, I agree that it would be nice to be able to have an update of whatever bells and whistles would work on the current hardware platform.

How do I Get Rid of Favorites?

I have a bunch of old waypoints or "favorites" that I want to get rid of. I don't want to delete them one at a time. I want to get rid of all the favorites in the GPS and then upload the updated group of waypoints.

I have a Nuvi 200W. Unlike Garmin emap, I can't find an option that says "delete all waypoints?". Then I looked into the files on board the GPS. One says "current.gpx". So I deleted it. But when the GPS reboots, it comes back still with all the old unwanted waypoints. It seems unlikely that the only way to get rid of Favorites on a large scale is to totally reset the GPS.

What am I missing ???

.

That's the only way on that model, unfortunately.

You can get rid of the favorites easily enough, without yanking them one at a time.. but it may be too much trouble in the long run. You decide, this is what will happen. You'll be back to square one, just as if you've just unwrapped your Nuvi 2x0.. You'll have to select your Locale:, your Language:, your Time Zone:, Daylight preference, you'll have three Favorites.. Garmin USA, Garmin Europe and Garmin Asia. and your preferences for Avoidance Route, Security, Navigation, Display.. (and more..) will have to be re-entered.. anyway, as the Nuvi boots hold a finger or thumb over the lower right portion of the screen. You'll get a conformation screen " Are you sure you want to reset your unit?? Yes/No.."

I hope there is at least one more firmware patch.

I hope there is at least one more firmware patch. I'm still waiting for them to restore the map scale that the 200 had when I bought it!!!!!
