How about Garmin's Portable Friction Mount, Part Number: 010-10908-00

.

Mounts

Go To Ebay and type in the search box Garmin Mounts or put your gps in for example C550 mounts , sp2720 mounts ETC

Dash

Garmin also has a suction-cup dashboard mount unit. You adhere a disc to the dash and the suction cup adheres to the disc. I have this set-up for a Nuvi 360 and 660.

Mounts

I use a Bracketron Nav-Mat, available on Amazon for under $15. It works great and you can put it under the seat when you park and no evidence of having a GPS is visible.

Bean Bag

I use the Garmin Bean Bag about $26. Very portable between vehicles. No tale tale suction cup marks on the windshield for the bad guys. Never even unpacked the dash disk that came with the unit. Puts the GPS much closer to me instead of far away on the windshield plus impossibly far away in the motorhome.

Bean Bag

Plus the bean bag is very convenient for the spouse to use to check for fuel, food, etc.

Got to be one heavy bean bag!

How many cubic feet is the fridge in that bean bag, and is that a Aux tank or your main fuel gauge in that bean bag?
Your lucky My wife hates it when I tell her to get up and go see if we have any salami left in the fridge cause she is usually sleeping in the co-pilot seat, and she has to go to the middle of the motor home.
Dang I'm going to have to get me one of those.

mount

ebay- purchased the car vent mount. $20.00 not the cheaper one for about $10-15 dollars. The $20.00 one fits the car charger that comes with your garmin unit. Works great foor me, no complaints.

Beanbag mount for Nuvi?

My wife has a Nuvi, and I was wondering if she would be able to use a beanbag mount. The suction cup has been falling off while she's driving, so she wants something more stable. Will we have to buy an extra part to mount a Nuvi to the beanbag?

.

The beanbag mount will work with the nuvi. No extra parts are needed.

Personally, I love the

Personally, I love the suction mount. I rather have it then any other mount, just my opinion. Here are some things that you can do to secure the suction cup better.

1) Clean window with windex and then alcohol
2) Clean suction cup with the same

If you still have problems, use vasaline and apply a very then coat of it on the cup. Don't use too much or it will slide all over the place.

Friction Mount

I am not happy with the friction mount that I use in my tow vehicle an F350. The dash is not very flat and the mount moves around, enough to bring on glares and so far as to block visibility.
I have the suction mount that is if anything too strong and hard to take off. It also puts the gpsr too far forward in the large F350. Removing it is not an easy chore.
The friction mount has some nice features like easy to put on floor and cover, etc but I prefer the windshield mount.
Just an opinion.

vaseline - suction cup

An alternative for vaseline might be a vegatable cooking oil. It can be less messy and easier to remove, but have the same affect as vaseline.

Mounts

Best one I found is the floor mount from the mountguys.com

i love the window mount

cuz there are more places tho put it that the windsheild,i have mine down low out of suns harm and out of veiw to others.and i dont like dash trash,i dont like stuff on my dash while going down the road.just more flying objects if something happens.

I have an F350 also and cannot reach the GPS while driving if it is attached to the windshield. The dashboard disk works fine. I put it on the dash just to the right of the steering wheel.

I kind of ignored the disk when I got the GPS. Is it permanently installed? Can the disk be removed? Its used with the suction cup, right?
Chuck

no its not

permanent you can peel it off of where you stuck it ,but you will have to get 3m tape to restick it,and the disc is for the windsheild mount, its great ,just stick it where it works best for you and for the gps and youre good to go,i myself have a f 350 4 door and had it on the winsheild, and didnt have a problem reaching it,but just didnt like it on the windsheild.

Yeah, I have found in different rental cars, that I cant reach the GPSr where I usually put it, so I have to put high on the windsheild

Yes, it gives a smooth surface, like a windshield, to which you can attach the suction cup. I used the adhesive it came with and try to nudge it once in a while. It is on the dash really well. If it comes loose, I'll re-attach it with 2-sided tape. I cleaned the attachment place on the dash with rubbing alcohol before attaching. This is especially important if you've ever used something like Armorall on the dash.
