OK, i am not the most tech savoy person, i have d/l the poi edit i have clicked on the gpx i wont to convert it loaded into poi edit now how do i convert it?! to csv
what type of csv do i use i have a garmin but when i go to convert it from gpx to the garmin it works fine in the software but when i go to open the new file it cant open it and say to try navman csv to open it??
1) I used GPS Visualizer (www.gpsvisualizer.com) for a whole bunch of functions, one of which is a conversion of GPX to POI/CSV or vise-versa. It is a free site that asks for donations, which I have done on occasion. I love the GEOCODE an ADDRESS function. Single or multiple addresses converted to LAT/LON and then that can be overlaid on a Google map, which helps verifying coordinates.
2) Also there is a little free program I picked up, "GPXtoPOI". It can do the same as GPS Visualizer, convert both ways. Do a Goggle on "GPXtoPOI" and it will pop up.

When I convert from GPX to CSV I lose all the Address and Phone# info, is there anyway to get it all in CSV?
If you are using GPS Visualizer http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert for converting a file scroll down a litle below browse and look for Plain text delimiter and click on comma then convert file.
CSV formats vary by manufacturer. Garmin has 4 fields in theirs: longitude, latitude, POI Name, and comment.
GPX is what the industry is trying to settle on for a standard. It allows for more fields and will someday be more interchangeable between manufacturers.
Ok,
so most CSV files only have four fields (lat, long, name, comments)
But,
GPX files (I believe) can have a lot more "info" attached to the POI. Does this info actually get into my Nuvi GPS; I'd like to create POIs with as much data as possible.
*** Namely, if I have the data, isn't it good to capture that in my CSV spreadsheet?
The mapping of the data fields is as follows

I don't think that it's quite that simple to just put the data in the CSV and then convert it to GPX. But Phil's the resident GPX expert, so check out his pages.

Differences
From what I know GPX is propriety to Garmin only, while CSV can be used by most all brands
GPX vs. CSV
I prefer GPX format myself.
This FAQ gives a good explanation of both formats:

alerts
Is it possible to set proximity alerts or speed alerts for the pre-loaded POI or only for custom alerts?
.
No, you can't set alerts for the pre-loaded POIs.

If one uses column heading names as recommended by GeePeeEx, it will import and recognize many GPX specific fields. This is Phil's page on that subject:
