Nuvi Detour

I'm not really sure what this is supposed to do. If I drive a route that is know is better than what the Nuvi is telling me, the Nuvi constantly wants me to correct my course back to its route. I thought perhaps the Detour function would allow for a re-route, but it dosent seem to actually do anything.
Anyone know what it is actually for?
Yeah, it works pretty good.
Yeah, it works pretty good. It derives a new route that different from the original one. However, if you continue to deviate from the new route that it routed, I am sure that you wouldn't "see" any difference.
