Possible to create a custom route?

I hope this makes sense. I just picked up a Garmin 750. I figured out how to load in custom POI's, so that is not a problem.

I want to setup a custom route, a "point a to point b" type of thing. Problme is, it's using back roads so the GPS needs checkpoints along the way to stay on the "fun roads". Otherwise it's going to direct us to the main highway not far away.

I have a CSV file with the 7 GPS coordinates that should keep us on the desired road. Is there any way to upload this file so the GPS sees this as a desired route?

I looked up how to do a tour guide, didn't seam to cover this unless I'm not understanding it.

What happens if you just set

What happens if you just set an "Avoidance" for highways?

As for routes, they are different from tour guides. Your 750 is one of the few Garmins that support routes, and I don't know the easiest way to set them up in a 750, but surely the owner's manual describes it. No? If you are playing with a Tour Guide in Mapsource, can't you just open the CSV in Mapsource, select all the waypoints to create a route and then transfer that route to the GPS? I can do all the creating, but can't transfer to my 660.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

CSV in Routes

Use POI Loader and load the POI's into the 750 and then set up the route on the 750.

Or transfer the POI's back to Mapsource and set up your route there, and then transfer back to the 750.

Or convert the csv file to a gpx file. Open it with Mapsource, set up your route and transfer it to the 750.

BTW

I have 25 routes in Mapsource that I transfer to the 750. I can select any 10 on the 750 later delete a few and then activate some new ones. Nice that you don't need to load routes with a PC everytime. As best I can find out this is an undocumented feature and as such more than 10 routes may not continue to work with newer versions of firmware.

Cool, thanks for the help.

Cool, thanks for the help. I've been swamped getting ready for my trip this week. I picked tonight to sit down and program the GPS.... Didn't realize the 750 does not come with MapSource so I'm SOL for this trip since the CD will never get here in time.

Oh well, I'll be ready next time!!! smile

EDIT -
Whoa, brain fart. Ok, I just loaded all 7 "checkpoints" into the 750 then setup a custom route!!! Excellent.

Thanks!!
