not all the time, but sometimes my c330 doesnt let me know of an upcoming turn until i get 400 ft from it,most of the time it tells me at least 0.2 mile then turn leftand then 400 ft,i think it works mostly on the speed youre going is that true and has anyone else had the same problem,i called garmin and the walked me through the reset thing and seemd to help just a bit.thanks in advance!

My nuvi 260...

... gives me a notice at a greater distance the faster I drive. At freeway speeds (70 mph) it usually give the first warning at about .8 to 1 mile. That is plenty of time to get prepared if I'm even half aware of where I am, even in heavy traffic. I usually glance at the unit occasionally so that I know when I'm approaching a turn even before the first warning sounds.

On the nuvi 650...

There is a "Turn In" window in the lower-right hand corner of the View Map screen. I glance at it from time to time to keep alert to when a change in direction is coming. I can even press on that window and the GPSr will repeat the next turn instructions in case I missed it the first time.

Also...

...on my Nuvi 260, the green bar at the top changes about 10 miles from the turn to display the street and direction of the coming maneuver. Just a quick glance tells me that (for example) I should be prepared to make a left turn in a few minutes, much the same as glancing at the speedometer or any other vehicle instrument keeps me apprised of its status. You don't have to stare at the screen, but it just makes sense to use the info that your GPS provides in a safe and timely manner, rather than waiting until the last second voice warning, then jumping over 3 lanes to make a hasty exit.

You can also press on the next turn info ANYTIME (even if it's 20 miles) to find out which way you will have to turn - you don't have to wait until after the alert tells you !
At least it works that way on my C330 & C340
