Don't use the supplied software

Don't use the software just open your gps from MY COMPUTER and open the MAPS folder then replace the existing file with he new POI file. I would back up the old fist just in case.

Oops!

It's not gonna work that way with his Magellan.....AND replacing files in the internal memory can be a dangerous thing to do if you aren't SURE about what you are doing.

How do I know if I was successful when downloading the 6 million POI's to my Magellan 3225? I think it worked, but I'm not sure.

Well let's see........if you removed the OLD POI file and you are now still seeing some POIs.....I wonder where they could be coming from ?? mrgreen

Sorry, couldn't resist.

A really good clue would be a POI file that is now MUCH larger than the original. Hopefully you saved a copy of the original.

You know that downloading is successed when you go to POI of your Magellan and see that it displayed much more categories than before. Also, you can check out, for example, nearest restaurant, it will show you more locations.

The file size is approx

The file size is approx 188mb, but a quick way to check is go to POI and see if there is a listing for campgrounds. The original 1.3 million did not show this category.
