Not enough Memory - Is this normal?

I have a Nuvi 350 with U.S. NT-2008 maps in the unit. Also, have Thailand V8 maps in the SD card. Type in an address to Thailand and push to "Go" button. The unit does the calculation mode and returned an error message of something like "Not enough Memory". I guess we really can't drive from U.S. to Thailand. or Is the distance too far for the unit to compile the distance so it display this error message. Anyone know what's up with that?

Till you get the word

Till you get the word of professionals on this great site, try to set the unit to "simulation mode". Then on the Thailand map press anywhere on the map to sleect a current location. Now, I guess you can start to simulate a route on Thailand map by entering a new destination. Good Luck!!

Also

Go into "Map Info" and uncheck the 2008 NT maps

Nuvi is afraid of the water

Just to see what would happen once, I asked my Nuvi 350 to route from Chicago to Honolulu. Mine did the same thing. That was with just the standard NT-2008 map.

.

Anytime the distance is too far like that, you will likely get the out of memory message. You can turn the GPS receiver function off, and set your current location to somewhere in Thailand, and then plot a route from there.

You should have to turn your regular maps off to do this.

It has to do with water and not distance, in my 260 I can set a route from Tampa to any address in Canada however it returns an error (Unable to calculate route to destination) when trying to go to an address in Puerto Rico or Hawaii, looks like Garmin will keep you from driving to a destination separated by water (unit is not waterproof) and they don’t want to be held liable if you drown. grin

need more space/memory

I deleted all unused (foreign) txt, help, & voice files from my nuvi260w.
Freed up quite a bit of space. Back up these to your pc hd before removing from nuvi.

His problem is water not space in the unit, you can delete all you want and still will not be able to "navigate" toward a country or state that is not contiguous to the mainland.
