Looking for a solid yet basic GPS unit

Hey all -

I have a garmin nuvi 350 and LOVE IT!! My boss has come to me wanting to purchase gps units for our company and would like a good basic gps unit - he'd like to keep it between 2-300 (we will probably be getting like 5 of them)

while I love my unit - it has a ton of features that we won't need at the office - can any of you recommend a good basic gps unit - the 1 need it must have is the ability to enter AND SAVE destinations easily and in advance. (like the saving to my favorites in my nuvi)

Please let me know if you can offer up any reccomendations.

Thanks so much!

Nuvi 200

Take a serious look at the Nuvi 200. It is a rugged, basic unit and Amazon has it for $193.

Circuit City has the 200W

Circuit City has the 200W (4.3 in screen) on sale for $270. It doesn't have text to speech, just voice prompts, but it is a good little unit.

Costco

Costco has the Nuvi 650 for $299.

nuvi 200

I agree, a good unit at a reasonable price

stick with Nuvi 350/360

you've been happy with it, and it's on sale for $250.00 ... right it the heart of your target price range!

the 350/360 has won numerous "editor's choice"/"best of" awards ... you can't go wrong!

Nuvi

I would stick with the Nuvi 350 - it is a great model for a great price.

thank you guys for your help

this is why I love coming to this site!!!!

Thanks for everything!

Roadmate 1200

I got the Magellan Roadmate 1200 for Christmas. It does not have a bunch of bells and whistles, (in the figurative sense grin ) but it is easy to operate and small enough to stick in your pocket if need be. And I think it runs sub $200.

I personally wanted one with a few more options, but I did not pay for it, so I can't complain. grin It more than does the job.

Nuvi 260

I've seen the Nuvi 260 with TTS advertised at about $250. I'm sort of partial to it, as that's what I have, and I love it.

Yes, but

The Nuvi 350 is a great unit, but, if I were buying several GPS units to be used in a business envirioment, but many different people, I would not want a flip up antenna. That is a main reason why I recommended the Nuvi 200.

TTS is too important to miss.

Nuvi 360 is on sell($250) at cosco, that's in your price range. After upgrade from Tomtom to Nuvi 360, I found TTS is the single important feature to have on GPS --it is the only way to keep your eye on the road. It worth every peney to have it, for the safety of your coworkers.

I could not agree more

Whatever unit you choose get one with TTS, I have the 260 and for liability issues with your work it is a must, sometimes I forget to bring the mount to my truck and just have it in my shirt pocket giving me directions without having to look at the screen.
