As perAuggie's post, they

As perAuggie's post, they both work on csv and gpx files.

I must say it is a cool and affordable upgrade going from the c330 to the 250W. I didn’t think wide screen made such a difference.

You'll notice the difference

You'll notice the difference in signal strength. The SiRF Technology makes a big difference. I can go all the way through most tunnels and hold a signal within the speed limit.

Claude! You made the right choice!

I have had my 250w for about a month now. It is so nice. The screen is beautiful. I am extremely happy with it. At times I wish that it had TTS, but the screen and colors are so nice, I don't mind looking at it a little more often.

Are you sure?

Are you sure your 250W is Sirf? Most 2xx series aren't. My 260 is MTK, and it too holds a signal through tunnels... at least the only tunnel I've gone through so far, in Pensacola.

The newer 2xx Nüvi's all seem to be the MTK, and it seems to be an excellent chip. So he shouldn't be disappointed if that's what he gets.

Yes I'm sure; when it loads

Yes I'm sure; when it loads it reads "2007 Copy SiRF Technology Inc." I know it doesnt show in the specs when you visit Garmins web sight. GPS Magazine does document it here http://gpsmagazine.com/2007/06/garmin_nuvi_250w_review.php

love the nuvii250w

just got one and I love the wide screen and touch screen - but I wish I could change the voice, I've heard you can download Yoda

Love it

If you like your C330 you will Love the Nuvi 250 W..They are much faster, and the new Chip technology lets you even use it indoors. The Wide screen is great. I have a nuvi 650...and it is great..

You can find several places that say the Nüvi's have SiRF (often in reviews from months past), but the reason that Garmin doesn't say so is because not all of them do. That doesn't mean that what they have is second rate... it isn't. Garmin does have a reputation to maintain. Most users seem to be getting the same high performance from the MTK chip as you do from the SiRF.

Just don't want anyone to think that they are getting cheated or something, because they aren't. I get outstanding results with the MTK chip in my Nüvi 260.

NUVI260W

I had a Nuvi200 I bought two weeks ago. I did not want to spend the extra hundred bucks for the TTS.
But after a week of playing with the 200, I decided I either needed a "W" wide screen or "TTS" trade up.
(health reasons)
When I returned to Cicuit City to swap up to either the 260 for the TTS feature, or 200W for the widescreen feature - lo and behold there was the answer.
CC had just received, that day, the new NUVI260W.
This was the answer to ALL my delimmas. Made the exchange, paid the difference, and am EXTREMELY happy with the TTS & Widescreen.

What's the nuvi 200 missing?

I've had my 200 for 6 weeks and think it gives me everything I want, but maybe I don't know what I am missing. What is TTS? And what can you see on the widescreen that you wouldn't on the small, except more on the sides of your route?

Any other good reasons to pay $200-$300 more for an upgrade to 600's or 700's?

nuvi 200 | lifetime maps

TTS = text to speech

Text to Speech means that instead of saying turn right in 500 ft..it will say turn right on Main Street in 500 ft. It can read the name of the road and speak it..In my opinion Npo it is not worth 200 more..But I was one of the lucky ones ot get a 650 for 299...I do like the wider screen...But again My brother Loves his Nuvi 200...and there is a lot to be said for the Portability of the smaller ones..

250W is SiRF as well

Thanks for pointing this out - my 250w also says "Copyright 2007 SiRF Technology Inc" on the startup screen, which I assume means that it's running SiRF technology

NUVI 250W

I just received my new Nuvi 250W. The map is nt 2008.
Very nice this Nuvi 250W.

1. To update the Currency Converter just click on the “Update” button.
2. To transfer Photos – with the GPS hooked up to your pc via USB, click on your pc’s Start button, chose My Computer, Double click on the Garmin drive, and Click on the JPEG folder. Now you can transfer your pictures. Just remember that the pictures need to be JPEG’s to appear and not BMP aka bitmap. smile

I like the look of it (my new nuvi 250W), but I dont like the sound of that speaker, the sound is like a cheap or hold speaker speaker.

Sound & Color Mode

I love the sound, I think its much crisper then the C330.
I find it odd that the Color Mode is always on Nighttime. Try restoring it before you try a reset.
To restore, click on the wrench, click on settings, click on display and click on Restore. Restart the unit if you like. See if it defaults the Color Mode to Auto.

If you decide to reset the unit then remember to backup your favorites and anything else you might have to a folder on your pc.

Let me know how it goes.
