When removing unwanted files from NUVI 760 (eg vehicles or lang.) any special care that must be taken or can one just copy the unwanted file to PC and then delete from NUVI?

Yeap, that is all you need to do. With the voices and cars, you can always download them again as well. Just make sure that you don't delete anything wrong. Make a backup first

Everyone has their own method to PYA when deleting GPS files. Copying these files to the computer before deleting them works IF you don't accidently remove a GPS system files that wasn't copied. We were taught there are three things you do before removing any files from a system partition ... backup, backup, backup!

We all know accidents happen. Before removing any files from the GPS we always back up the complete GPS to the computer, then burn it to a DVD. It takes a fair amount of time to do this; but you'll never be sorry!

there are hidden files too

Also, I read that there are also hidden files too. Make sure you back those up as well.

How do you find and backup

How do you find and backup hidden files

.

In the file browser on your computer, go to

Tools > Folder Options > View > Show hidden files and folders

Then copy the entire contents of your GPS unit to your computer as a backup.

Just to be safe, they are hidden files because they are files you really shouldnt mess with. Sooo...don't try to open them or do anything else but copy them to a file on your puter. They can also have bad effects on your puter if you accidently double click on them inside your puter.
