How to get POI's for your destination

I am wondering why I can't get POI's for my "destination", in other words, I would like to view POI's of the city I am heading to. When I am on a trip I want to know the restaraunts in 3 hours, not immediate sometimes. The only ones that come up are the ones near me currently, where I am located. I tried to reset my home location and still I got my old home location POI's. I am wondering what I am missing-there must be an easy way to do this. Another feature that would be nice is be able to tell it to go to a destination via a certain road you want to take. I was on vacation and staying at a friend's house. He told me the best highway to take to the next city but for some reason that didn't come up on the route. So it would be a nice feature to say "include" this particular street or highway in the route.

If you touch screen where to then touch near at the bottom of screen you can select another city and you will be able to select what category you want to look at there.
