Red Light Camera's not being announced

I found a free database of Los Angeles red light cameras and loaded it using the POI loader from Garmin's website. However, today as I drove by some intersections the Garmin did not alert me to their presence. When I go through the menu to POI it shows them and it even showed an intersection that I drove through but alas no alert. Any ideas??

Also, I touched the screen to mark a red light camera at La Cienega and Wilshire Blvd. (although it's probably on your list it isn't in the free POI list I receive). So I have saved the location as a favorite but not sure how to move or add it to the POI section.

Thanks!

Redlight

Does the file name contain the text redlight ?
Are proximity alerts enabled?
For testing you could add your home as a redlight to the poi file.

Since you now the location, you can use www.poieditor.com to load your POI file and add the new lodation. Remember the location such that you can send it into the POI factor for others to use. Now you will have to reload the entire POI file into your GPS. NOTE, when using the POI loader, remember to delete existing one first, otherwise you will have duplicates. The POI load will re-create the files on your GARMIN.

Hope this helps.

Make it Sound off more...

Since I'm new I'll risk this being a repeat, but there's another problem with the NAMING for Redlight and Speed cameras as POI's. Since the POI loader already recognizes the name and tags them with alerts ANYTHING with the word SPEED or REDLIGHT in the name (any type of POI, that it) will be set for an Alert. My favorite gas station to use here it NE Ohio is SPEEDWAY. I loaded the Speedway POI file this morning and went grocery shopping later. After the fourth one I passed up I couldn't help laughing at myself. This is gonna be fun.....

Be sure the MP3 file for the voice alert is named exactly the same and is located in the same directory on your computer where you load you POI's. In this case Syntex is very important. Example would be LosAngelesRedLights.csv and LosAngelesRedLights.mp3

Using a filename to indicate it's function is very old school and creates problems like this. But then I'm just underwhelmed by all of the Garmin software I've seen.

Spdway Gas Bar

You could use FIND/REPLACE in Excel to change the name.

To Fix this problem I renamed the POI File from Speedway to _peedway. Now the stations show up without the alert info or tones....
