how do you ,if you can ,change the proximity alerts on the factory poi's on the c330, i know you can on the custom poi's but not sure on the factory poi's

You can't set proximity alerts on the built in POIs.
You could however, save them as Favorites, download the Favorites into a program like MapSource, and create a Custom POI file from them and load them as Custom POIs.
