Someone posted that you could increase the strength of the FM transmitter/modulator on the 660. Has anyone heard of this before?

Nothing yet confirmed
There is a 'hidden' maintenance screen that appears to let you increase the output but no one has yet figured out how to save the settings when exiting this mode.
thanks
thanks
Keep pressing on the battery icon
At least on nuvi 750, if you press & hold on the battery icon (top right) long enough it will take you to the diagnostic screen. Keep hitting "next" button four times, it will take you into the Audio output Test page. Once in there, you can play around with all the settings. How ever, I don't think thereis a way to save the settings. Good luck!
thank you!!
thank you!!
Increase FM power to high (660)
Yes it is possible.
For that you have to know the CODE that could be enter. This code is enter into a specific screen of your GPS. The code could not be published by GARMIN due to legal regulations in some country.
The regulations set out the technical specifications for legal devices.
The relatively low power output of FM transimitters sometimes makes it unsuitable for use in some large urban areas because of the number of other radio signals. This is compounded by the fact that strong FM signals can bleed over into neighboring frequencies making the frequencies unusable with the transmitter
That code will be not published here at anytime.
This is not a pirate hacking forum and it's better like this.
Yes it give a better boost but not a spectacular one.
Easy Roy . . . Easy!

Oh. . . and if anyone gets that code, would you mind posting a link to it by the 530 tts "pirate hacking" link. Thanks!

I don't think that trying to
I don't think that trying to make the unit work as advertised should be considered "hacking"
I agree!

Maybe I'm too dense. For the life of me, I don't understand why Garmin would spend resources developing the diagnostic screen and let customer play around with all the settings. But there is no way for customers to save the settings. Had customers been able to save some of these settings, they would solve half of Garmin customers aches/pains and customer support time. Oh well, so much for corporate intelligence.
fm Transmiter
does Tomtom have a similar type of system?
