Nuvi Mount

Can someone confirm that this mount will work with the Nuvi (ball size)? I'm pretty sure I saw that posted here at one time. I already have the base on my dash from my 2610 and would love to use it for my nuvi.

Nuvi and C5XX

Garmin Beanbag portable mount works with Nuvi series and Garmin StreetPilot c580, c550 and c530.
so the one in your link will work with Nuvi if it is advertised for above mentioned CXX series.

Which mount for nuvi?

I recently bought mount hardware from Mount Guys, mainly because they don't make you guess about what hardware works with what GPSr. They research it and spell it out clearly. Even better than the online Garmin store does. Prices are good, too.

The Mount Guys Garmin page is at (Garmin page is http://www.mountguys.com/category_s/29.htm

Garmin mount

With all of the reports in the papers and on TV here in the Chicago area I have decided to use a vent mount for my 750. Even if you remove the window mount each time you leave your car the creeps are looking for the round makes left on the glass. A $12.00 vent mount vs. a $700.00 windshield is not a hard choice.

Just purchased one

After reading some posts here, I purchased the "light duty" vent mount off Ebay. Can't wait for it to get here -- the windshield mount is technically illegal in CA and I don't like the buttons being so far from me when my Bluetooth-connected phone is working.

So far, trying to prop the windshield mount in my cupholder isn't working for me. Since I travel a lot, I'm still looking for the perfect light-weight solution. If anyone has any tips, point me at them before I start over-engineering my own solution...

Yeah, exactly my thinking. And I'm pretty sure I did see someone post here that they were using one. I guess I'll know for sure when it arrives.

They use a different cradle, but the ball attachment appears the same, and as shri pointed out, they both use the same friction mount, with the same ball arm attached to it. I'm sure they will work fine together.

I'm currently using the Portable Auto Friction Mount. Works great with my nuvi and never moves out of place.

I went from a 2610 with a bean bag mount to a Nuvi 760. I wanted to retain the use of the bean bag mount. That is the exact part I purchased off eBay to allow the use of the Nuvi on my existing bean bag mount.

the ball mount has ridges on the base that allows the use of your existing base - works like a charm

Confirmed c5xx series mount will work with nuvi

I use to have a c530 and the mount itself (not the cradle) will work with the nuvi cradle. Same size ball for both.

one more way

I'd like to share my way of mounting solution.

As you can see on a pictures i have modified Garmin's mounting for Nuvi 750 and i believe it could be done for any GPS, Thinkpad etc.

Great engineering!

But it takes your eyes too far from the road for my taste. As an eyeglasses wearer, I would have to actually turn my head. Might have worked for me when I was younger.... crying

Beanbag mount from Best Buy

The beanbag mount from Best Buy sounds expensive at $41.99. A few weeks ago I bought one from amazon.com for $27.78, which included shipping.
I don't do much buying over the internet, but I was impressed with amazon's service. I ordered the mount on a Sunday night at 9:30 and I received it Wednesday morning. Oh, and the Tuesday before the Wednesday was Christmas. Not too shabby.
BTW, the mount? It's the nuts! It's the only way to go.

Want to share any details?

I like the way it looks pbereg! Would you like to share what you used and how you did it?

RE: One More Way

Hi pbereg,
Your mounting solution, along with the pictures, looks very interesting. I know a picture is worth a 1000 words, but in this case would you mind going into detail just how you modified the Garmin mount for the 750?
I have a 650 and would like to try and do the same thing for my car.
Thanks,

All parts are standard Garmin enclose for Nuvi 750. I just cut part of the sucking round in order to have space for GPS angle adjustment.
The cig adapter is standard from the same enclose. I used clamp from bicycle compass- walmart ~$10.

nav mat

Im currently using the nav mat. It works well but sometimes the suction fails. I'm thinking about cementing it to the mat. I would simply put the whole setup in the trunk when not in use. Has anyone gone that route. Any suggestions?

www.proclipusa.com

I am looking forward to trying these out on my two vehicles. The typical vent clip messed up my dash so I got a beanbag but I am going to try these instead with a movable mount that hides.

RE: One More Way

Hi pbereg,
I have one more question regarding the way you modified your mount for the Nuvi 750.
From the pictures that you shared, it looks like the cable connecting the mount to the power converter that plugs directly into the "cigarette" lighter is much, much shorter. If correct, what issues did you face, if any, to cut and splice the wires?
Thanks,
JeffSh

...it looks like the cable connecting the mount to the power converter that plugs directly into the "cigarette" lighter is much, much shorter. Yes, it is. This is idea " to forget about cable connection".I made one cut from cigarette lighter side and another from mounting and than soldered them. Make sure the new length is enough for angle adjustment. Also, this mounting allow me to use GPS on a different cars (Honda CRV) just by removing whole unit from plug.

For $9 more you can get the Garmin friction mount from Erwincomp.com and you don't have to deal with the suction cup at all. The only thing you can be certain of with a suction cup is that somewhere, somehow, sometime it's going to come unsucked.
